Montserrat: A Mountain, a Monastery, a Sanctuary
Montserrat is a breathtaking mountain from a geological perspective. It is also a sacred site, home to a Benedictine Monastery celebrating its 1000th anniversary, and the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Montserrat. Visitors can explore the Abbey of Montserrat, venerate “La Moreneta,” the Black Madonna, and enjoy a leisurely hike to admire the stunning views from St. Michael’s Cross or take the funicular to the mountain’s summit. For those interested in art, the Art Museum is a must-visit. A highlight of the visit is the Boys’ Choir performance** before the lunch break.
** Booking a month or more in advance will increase the likelihood of securing a spot for the performance.
