Old town of Mombasa - Dennis from Afrika Explorers was very informative on the history of of the Fort Jesus. We walked around old town and he explained the history of the buildings and its cultural impact on the city. I would highly recommend this tour.

Short but very insightful - Our guide, Godfrey, contacted us via whatsapp short after we made the booking and that way we managed to arrange our meeting point and timing. We went first to two Hindu temples, including the oldest in Mombasa. Unfortunately of so many house of worships in Mombasa, only those two are open for visitors. Godfrey diligently explained everything we need to know about the customs. From there he took us to a Park and the Elephant Tusks monument. While at Fort Jesus, Godfrey gave us lots of historical background and he showed us places that most tourists didn't go. We also learned how the Portuguese were kicked out by the Arabs and how the Arabs fortify the fort further. Finally, he took us to the old town and the spice market. All in all, a short but very insightful half day tour. Highly recommended.

Magnificent monument - Historic monument. The first Portuguese ships landed here and the rest is history! Did you know an aerial view of it resembles a cross?

Old Fort with exciting history - The trip was booked but it rained. The fort has an exciting history as the guide was well inside. Much of the Fort has been renovated or is becoming it. There are a couple of souvenir shops in the area, and afterwards the guide visited the city where we visited some exciting markets and some kingdom good shops. Good trip.

Needs to be curated from the angle of Miji Kenda/Kenyan history. - Great museum but there is a huge gap from the perspective of the history of the Miji Kenda and other local tribes. How did they live before and after, what was their interaction with the Arabs, Portuguese and finally the British. How did they resist the occupation and how did slavery impact on them. There is very little mention of the impact. Curatively, there is nothing on the culture of the local community either which is disappointing.
