Tangalle - Begin your adventure with an early-morning (4:00 AM) pickup from your hotel in Tangalle. Enjoy a two-hour drive to Tissa, followed by a 45-minute safari Jeep ride to the entrance of Yala National Park. Near the park, you’ll have some tea and snacks before entering in the early morning to avoid the crowds and catch the animals at their most active. Yala National Park is one of the best places in Sri Lanka to see a wide variety of wildlife. Spot colorful storks by the lagoon alongside resting crocodiles. Marvel at fan-tailed peacocks in the woods where monkeys leap and chatter. The park is home to 32 species of mammals, including endangered species like sloth bears, leopards, elephants, water buffalos, wild boars, spotted deer, sambars, and golden jackals. You’ll have ample time to listen to commentary about the wildlife and ask questions. Spend 3 to 4 hours exploring the park.

Yala National Park - If you’re fortunate, you might spot the unique Sri Lankan leopards, which are prevalent throughout the park. Yala National Park’s Block 1 boasts the highest density of leopards among Sri Lanka’s wildlife parks. Observe the large population of elephants roaming the park. The park is also a haven for bird enthusiasts, with around 130 species. Look out for raptors like crested serpent eagles and white-bellied sea eagles. Around the lagoons, you might see flamingos, pelicans, spoonbills, rare black-necked storks, grey herons, purple herons, night herons, and darters. After thoroughly exploring the park’s wildlife, return to Tangalle, arriving back at your hotel around 2 PM.
