Perfect whale watching - The whale watching was pretty amazing. We saw a lot of dolphins and whales. In total we saw 4 species of whales and dolphins, which is pretty good. Also the service on the boat is great. The boat staff is friendly and giving good information about the whales and dolphins.

Worth the time in Mirissa - Its a good operator. You get breakfast on the boat and the crew is knowledgable. On our trip, they went the extra mile, kept longer on sea and went to another extreme end to spot a fin whale based on a fisherman's tip.

Great experience - Had a great time. The crew were very friendly and helpful. They made every effort to spot the whales. We got to see the Fin Whales and a dolphin. Not too many sightings but it was still a great experience

We saw a whale!!!! - Even though we weren't sure if we were going to see anyone, not only did we see a whale (a sperm whale), but it even swam under our boat! That was really cool! Also seen mating turtles and dolphins. We're thrilled! The service is also at a high level

Exciting and awesome - We managed to see sperm whale. The staff said it’s very rare. Excited. Also saw dolphins and sea turtles. Recommended!!

Not animal friendly - The organisation was good and the staff on the bot very nice. But the whole time we were on the boat, I felt bad about disturbing the animals. This tour (and others) said they are following animal guidelines but that simply means not using sonar devices to find whales (which is important, don’t get me wrong). But it was 4-10 boats in the same spot when animals were found and it generally felt more like whale (dolphin) hunting than watching. This is also on us, because when booking a tour like this you already know that this can’t be what’s good for the animals but we were hoping that it’s different. It’s not. But considering all the other boats we saw, there doesn’t seem to be an alternative other than not going which I would recommend.

Think twice - I am writing this post to tell about an incident that happened during our trip to Mirissa Whale Watching on April 27, 2025. We came fasting because breakfast was included in the price. They did not provide us with food during the trip and only gave us one bun upon strong request. Although we informed Chaminda of the company about this at the end of the trip, he said that the food was less than the number of participants in the trip and could not provide food. He did not take this into account in any way. In the end, we had to pay and go hungry in the morning. Think twice about going on a deep sea trip with such irresponsible people.

Disappointing trip - Disappointing trip. Apart from seeing a few dolphins here and there, I didn’t see any whales, despite the story that two other boats had supposedly seen them. Honestly, it feels like a fairy tale — no sonar, no equipment to actually track whales, just sailing around with fingers crossed, hoping to spot one. To me, it seems more like a scam, selling tourists the dream of seeing whales when the real chance is probably around 10–20%
