Nice experience - We used DMC Jeep Safari, but there are heaps to choose from. Did the afternoon tour, and saw two groups of elephants up close, and there was no rush. My only complaint is why can't you buy entrance tickets online, as every Jeep waited for over 30 minutes at the gates while all the drivers lined up at the one counter.....

Unforgettable experience! Must do in Sigiriya! - This was one of the first experiences we booked once we planned our honeymoon to Sri Lanka and it was so worth it. We had a bright and early start meeting our driver Kumara at our hotel at 5:30am to ensure we got to the park as it was opening. On the drive up Kumara stopped by a lake and unsure what he was doing at first he went into the lake and came back with two local flowers and gifted them to us. Upon entering the park it wasn’t long before Kumara starting to point out different wildlife. We saw multiple species of eagle, water buffalo, many birds, a mongoose, golden jackals and without a shadow of a doubt the star of the safari the Asian elephant. We were about an hour into our time in the park and Kumara was taking his time to suss out where the elephants were. He then spotted one in the distance by the lake so we headed over and within the next 30 minutes more came out from the bushes included a number of calves with their mums. The whole experience was incredible from start to finish. Kumara was funny, extremely knowledgable about the park and wildlife and also really patient and caring for the animals as he moved on once too many vehicles came so it didn’t disturb the elephants. Although we had plenty of time to see them in their natural habitat. Would do this experience again and again!

- We had a very nice safari with lots (tons) of elephants sometimes just a few centimeters away. The driver was very nice and gave his best to maneuver the car in the best place. The car itself looked very new and was very clean. Thanks again for having us.

Amazing experience admist the elepants - Our driver, Kumara, was respectful for the elephants, patient, took us tp places with little jeeps. He was not in a hurry, but wanted us to enjoy the park and the animals as much as we could. We had an amazing day, saw so many elephants and babies from close by. Highly recommend!

Elephants galore! - Booked this trip through get your guide. They collect and drop off from accommodation in Sigiriya and surrounding. Half day was enough time. You will see big herds of 20+ elephants, probably some monkeys and water buffalo. Compared to Yala where we were spotting lots of different animals every 10-15 mins, it is much less frequent and less variety. However the trucks were more respectful of keeping a distance from the animals and they gave you time to just sit and observe.

Great experience - The safari in the national park was fascinating! We have seen a lot of elephants, water birds and water buffalo - our guide was very eager to find the right spots to allow us to observe the animals up close. We would have liked a little more information about the animals during the safari, but otherwise we can only recommend the offer :)

Be prepared for long waiting times! - We booked the half day Safari (afternoon), and this is how the time was spent: Drive to the park: 1 hour Wait in the car for driver to buy the tickets: almost 2 hours Safari: 2 hours Drive back to hotel: 1 hour We did see a lot of elephants, so we are happy with the actual safari portion of the trip, but we were not prepared for waiting that long in the car for the driver to buy the entrance tickets. These tickets are also not included in the price you pay for the safari, it’s an extra charge of 50 USD per person (bring cash). If we would go again we would sort out our own transport to the park and book a safari that picks us up by the entrance instead of the hotel, that would save a lot of waiting time when you get there. Our driver didn’t really speak English, but he was good at getting us a good spot in the park to see the elephants, so it was okay.
