This two-day journey to Huayna Potosí (6094 meters above sea level) is ideal for adventurers who are acclimatized and seeking an authentic Andean mountaineering experience. The adventure starts with a drive from La Paz to the Zongo platform, followed by a trek from Base Camp (4780 meters) to High Camp (5270 meters) along a picturesque moraine ridge with views of the Zongo Valley. After approximately 2.5 hours, the high-altitude refuge is reached for rest and preparation.
- Huayna Potosi - On Day 2, the summit attempt begins at 3:00 a.m. to benefit from firmer snow conditions. The route features two steep sections: the “Pala Chica” (30 meters at a 50° incline) and the “Pala Grande” (45° incline), leading to the summit. After about 5 hours of climbing, a stunning sunrise and views of Illimani, La Paz, Lake Titicaca, and the Yungas can be enjoyed. The descent follows the same path, returning to base camp, and then heading back to La Paz around 3:00 p.m.
