Truly profound wildlife experience. - I embarked on a 3 hour VIP cruise with John Dealy, the intrepid Adelaide River Cruises Jumping Crocodile Experience guide. Leaving the other tour boat behind, we drifted down into the remote area of the wild Adelaide River, scanning the banks and watching the skies. We found the hugest crocs pushing 6 metres, and John explained their territory and ranking, while luring them into jumping with a piece of chicken dangled from a pole. He was so skilful with that pole, repositioning their heads with a tap in the water, scratching the big crocs on the soft skin behind their heads, even getting me to feel it. We found Brutus, the 100 year old behemoth, intelligent, wise, capable of raw power and yet affable and endearing as he floated along with the boat and enjoyed getting scratched with the pole. He actually swam out when John called him and clicked his tongue. I got a close up shot of his ancient eye he was so close, his bristled eye lashes. He'd lost his nostrils fighting, and a lot of teeth. He'd recovered from eating the feral pig 3 days ago and was quite active. He obliged us with a lunge jump. We also found the other top territory controller, 60 year old Dominator, basking on the mud bank with his lady. He entered the water like a great submarine while his girl leapt out. She talked to him in submissive growls to let him know she didn't want any trouble with his boat chicken and he hissed back through his nostrils. John said I could get closer to the edge to photograph as he wouldn't jump at me and no other croc would dare to be nearby. He said he was dependable. Dominator basked beside the boat, arms splayed out on the bank edge. Being with these great crocs in such an intimate almost family way was so precious and entirely unexpected. I truly loved them as much as John did. Moving along the river some of the big females were absolutely ferocious attacking the chicken. We went quite far up river and discovered the huge croc known as Big Bob, according to John's Dad. We found a few big males moving in too. One that had no right to be in the territory he was, outranked by 2 other females after Brutus, but he held his ground against the female challenge. John regarded them with fascination. What a dance that was, he said. John's love of his crocodiles and nature is genuine, heartfelt. To him this work is freedom. We drifted on. Time slowed. Butterflies drifted through the boat. Flocks of herons burst into flight. Birds of prey circled above us in great numbers. Black kites. John feeds them on his usual tour. At the end of the tour John offered me the chance to catch barramundi in the barra farm nearby. I got 2 in 10 minutes but lost them and he got 2. It was amazing to feel a sleek silvery fish explode out of the creamy water as it inhaled my lure. It was so heavy I could hardly hold the rod. John taught me to pull and reel, pull and reel. He said he'd wanted me to feel the power of the barramundi strike and the fight it put up. He truly cares about his client's feelings and experiences. We were out there in the wild wild land of river dragons for 3 hours and he was exceptionally kind with his time to make sure I had everything he could possibly give me. And he gave me one of the most shining moments of my life. Thank you John, Adelaide River Cruises NT

Best jumping croc cruise yet - Captain Jack was awesome. Great knowledge, great banter.
I have been to other jumping croc cruises in Darwin many times over the last 20 years when family or friends come to visit but this was the best yet. I will definitely make this cruise the only jumping Croc cruise I take my peeps too.
What a great family business. We had the privilege of having Jacks grandfather on the cruise, you could see the great connection these boys have, so cool.
Hope you win the 2 slabs bro
