Very knowledgeable and... - Very knowledgeable and entertaining. The tour did take all day but made sure we were all comfortable in the van and allowed us time to walk around each city to explore.

Our experience: excellent guide; improved agency care - Our guide Miguel was excellent. His group management, knowledge and ability to communicate were outstanding. In addition, he was able to establish a very interesting connection between the cultures of Mexico and Costa Rica, which we highly appreciate. We really enjoyed the experience thanks to him and recommend him as a guide at any time. However, the attention of the agency staff who received us at the hotel left much to be desired. The tour was delayed and instead of informing us in due course, we were not given any explanation until we went to ask ourselves. Expressing our discomfort at the lack of information, one of the employees responded to us high-handedly, saying that they were not fortune tellers and that there was allegedly a fire causing the delay. However, when consulting with others, no one was aware of such a fire or mentioned it as a cause of the delay, and they dismissed this version. I think the treatment of tourists was unfortunate. It is very frowned upon that in a country with such a tourist vocation staff are allowed to attend in such an unprofessional and rude way. It would be advisable for them to take examples from other places where customer service is much more respectful and organized.

Not what I was expecting - I arrived for this tour as directed, 8am for an 8.30 pick up. Checked in with the tour desk and was told all fine, just wait. My Spanish is poor so I had booked a tour with an English speaking guide. At 9.30 when everyone else had been collected, I was told the English guide was the delay. At 9.45 I was bundled into a car without explanation as the person on the tour desk did not speak English. I was dropped off and ushered onto a bus, again without explanation, where we proceeded to pick up passengers from other locations. When asked, the tour guide told me 'passengers didn't show for your tour so it is kaput, you will be on this tour now'. My Spanish speaking friend tried to call the company to find out details but management wouldn't give her any information. I also tried to contact Magestic Tours via Viator and their website but only got error404 messages. I still do not know what company I travelled with. The English commentary was minimal but okay. No details about Cholula but there is a good English storyboard in one of the vestries. I missed the tunnel because I didn't know about it. If we went to Tonantzintla, we must have just driven though as there was no commentary. For lunch, I had assumed we would be able to arrange something for ourselves but we were taken to a restaurant and told that was where we were eating. All fine until I went to pay and the total was $1600. Thankfully I questioned this and an English speaking passenger came to my aid. I had been charged for the whole table, not just my meal. It turned out that they too had the delayed start, car trip and been put on another tour without explanation. All of this was just a comedy of errors and not all related to Majestic Tours. I'm not sure how it could be improved except maybe better communication and information by management.
