Silver is amazing - Taxco was amazing, particularly hearing the process for Silver. The staff at the store were amazing and helpful. Finally, Ruben our tour guide was amazing and educated us on the many historical aspects of the tour. Tomas, our driver, did a great job.

Excellent tour - Incredible tour, I went with my mother, we had a great time. We thank the guide Alicia, who was very pleasant in her explanations, and the driver, Rafael. The center of Cuernavaca is very beautiful and, not to mention Taxco, from the moment you arrive you are struck by its view, the sale of silver, the typical dish that is the pink mole and the pre-Hispanic mine.

Taxco pueblo mágico - I gave 4 stars because the transportation experience was not very good ( very uncomfortable seats (small) and I'm 5'10 and 175 llb, maybe was just the design of the van or that the trip was long, we didn't stop at the pre-hispanic cave 🤷🏻 instead we stop at this silver shop where things were kind of expensive.

Taxco is lovely, but... - The tour description sounded like guests were to meet at and depart from a central meeting point, and I was requested to be at a meeting point north of my hotel by 7:50 am, so I made a 20min. Uber trip to be there on time, where I waited a half hour before the bus showed up. From there, instead of departing for the tour, the bus went to at least 4 more pick-up points and at two of them waited 15 min. or more for guests who must have arrived at least a half hour after their requested times; so the bus did not actually begin to leave Mexico City until 9:30. We made what seemed like an overly-leisurely stop in Cuernavaca to use a rest room and see a church, then proceeded to Taxco where we first stopped at a silver store. We were given a quick overview of silver production and the store seemed nice, but I felt we were trapped here for a bit longer than needed while the salesman tried to persuade us to buy. We then went to lunch. I liked the restaurant, and the view was wonderful. We then had a tour of another church, and ended up with just 1.5 hrs. of free time in Taxco which to me was the most worthwhile part of the trip. Although the part of town we were in was fully focussed on tourism, the town and the views afforded are nonetheless quite lovely – I very much wish we'd dawdled less in the other areas and had more free time here. Coming back, we went through the the dropping-off process. Another tour I took in Mexico City dropped people off in the same order as they were picked up, meaning that the the first to board were the first to be dropped off; but this tour didn't, so the first to board were the last to be dropped off. I didn't get back to my hotel until nearly 9pm, meaning that for me, with the Uber rides at each end, the whole thing lasted 13.5 hrs. All in all, the trip was ok as an intro but if I had it to do over, I'd try to find a more direct way to experience Taxco.

Buyer Beware - I travel all over the world and love to take tours with Viatours. Don’t waste your time on this one for sure. Our tour guide Ruben talked so fast that you couldn’t understand him. Being fluent in both English and Spanish did not help. Had a horrible way of saying “Chicos” every other word. He also presented inaccurate information by saying “some people think” every few phrases. As someone who has extensively studied the region and culture he was just presenting a storybook like tale of all mesoamerican civilizations smashed into one and applying them to that area. His presentation was very poorly vetted by the tour company that he represented Amigos. Our time in Tasco was very limited and physically very grueling. He claimed that the bus could not go up the mountain yet did not explain to us that there were many taxis and cars available that could go up to the top. When pressed on this, he was very defensive and rude. There was some deal that he had made with a vendor up there and they were very aggressive trying to get us to go to the person’s shop. It was very shady. At the beginning of the day, he said he would drop us off at our hotel. We were two women traveling alone and would have gotten off in the populated area where he dropped the rest of the tourists off. Then he dropped us off five blocks from the hotel saying it was a better neighborhood, but we had to walk through deserted streets to get back. It was very disappointing and stressful experience. Alberto was an excellent driver and it’s a shame nobody tipped either of them because of Ruben’s lackluster performance and argumentative offensive manner. The “tour bus” was a van that had very Narrow seats and non-functional seatbelts. The AC was excellent though.
