Market Tour and Home Cooking Class in Mexico City with Margarita - The Market tour and cooking class with Margarita was an absolute amazing experience, Enjoyable, educational & fun and the food was absolutely delicious. Margarita was very knowledgeable and the market tour was very informative and interesting. She explains all the different ingredients used in Mexican.m cuisine. Including vegetables, spices, herbs ,etc. Margarita was also very kind and we felt like we knew her for years and she opened up her home to us and she was very warm and it felt very welcoming. Her recipes were very good but not to complex and I know that I will be able to make these recipes when I go home with my family and will be able to find the ingredients. She explained all the step and all the ingredients thoroughly .Enjoyed cooking with her and sharing a meal together .

Fantastic Cooking Class with Lovely Hostess - My husband and I spent a wonderful afternoon and evening with Margarita. She welcomed us into her beautiful home and made us feel like family. Our trip with her to the market in San Angel made us feel like locals! She explained all of the various peppers and moles and the important differences in flavour and preparation. Margarita is an excellent host and chef and taught us how to prepare several dishes in a way that we can replicate at home. Everything we made was fantastic, but my favourite were the Sopas with huitlacocche. The only thing I regret is not going earlier to spend some time walking around the lovely neighbourhood. We highly recommend this experience with Margarita when you are in Mexico city, you won't be disappointed!

Lovely host, wonderful experience - Margarita hosted cooking class in her beautiful home which was in a very charming neighborhood. Started out with a trip to the market where we were educated on different mole powders and pastes, herbs and fruits. We even got to sample the produce. Afterwards it was hands-on preparation of our meal of sopes, chicken mole with rice followed by a guava dessert. It was a great experience, very personally catered and it was like having dinner in a good friend’s home.

A highlight of our trip - My wife and I did this as part of a trip to Mexico City and it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable days of our holiday. Margarita took us to the local market first, where it was clear she knows the place inside out — the vendors, the produce, the little details you'd never notice on your own. It felt relaxed and unhurried, more like shopping with a local friend than following a guide. The cooking class back at her home had the same easy feel. Just the two of us with Margarita's full attention, learning to make traditional dishes including a chicken with mole that we'd probably attempt at home. What made it feel special was how naturally the conversation flowed — we found we had quite a bit in common, which made the whole afternoon feel genuinely personal rather than transactional. Her home is lovely , with a garden that made the perfect setting for sitting down to eat what we'd cooked. A really nice way to spend a day.

Great Host and a Fun Class in a Beautiful Setting - Our inter-generational family ranged in age from 13-79 and we all thoroughly enjoyed the market tour, the cooking and the eating! Margarita's home is beautiful, comfortable and we were able to eat outdoors in her beautiful garden. Margarita does a fantastic job engaging participants, teaching about different ingredients and focuses on dishes we can make at home. This was a great experience to cap off our week in Mexico City!

Come with an Appetite! - We were greeted by a lovely soul. Margarita was exceptional in her kindness and explaining questions we had regarding the foods. She took us to the market and explained various Mexican foods eaten in her culture and what they’re used for as well. Her welcoming sense of comfort was lovely as was her spectacular home/kitchen. She’s incredibly organized and very prepared. When initially signing up for this adventure, I specifically mentioned I wasn’t a meat eater, but my two family members were. At the drop of a hat she figured everything out for accommodating me without any concerns. I felt completely taken care of. From the appetizers we prepared to the main course and dessert; it was exceptional. Helping prepare all the food was so enjoyable. The wine(s) were from Mexico and very good. Come with an appetite! You’ll leave happy and full. We even had the pleasure of meeting her lovely husband who joined us for dinner. Our stay was wonderful. Great conversation and such amazing souls!

Wonderful afternoon with Margarita learning, eating and laughing - I am a long time fan of Traveling Spoon and have had amazing experiences in other countries. For my niece's 40th birthday, she decided she wanted to visit Mexico City. I suggested Traveling Spoon for a unique experience. And what a wonderful experience it was. Margarita welcomed us into her beautiful home filled with art. We visited the local market and spoke with vendors while Margarita taught us about all the fruits and vegetables we were seeing. Once home, we began cooking and laughing and talking for hours. I learned so much, ate delicious food and had a warm, wonderful afternoon with Margarita. Highly recommended. She is a treasure.
