So much fun while learning about culture - We had an amazing time on our Day of the Dead experience! Our guides Carlo and Betsabe are knowledgeable, welcoming and charming. They brought us together as a group in fun ways and made our night great fun! I hope to book another tour with them in the future. Our driver Jaime handle the road safely even during bursts of rain so we felt comfortable

Nice tour - but some improvements could be made. - Our tour guides were incredibly knowledgeable about Mexican history, culture and Day of the Dead festivities. The cemetery was a beautiful experience, and it was amazing to see families celebrating. It was hard to hear the guide explaining the rituals about the cemetery – he should have done this in the bus on the ride to the location. I feel there was not enough time to explore the cemetery. Also, should have mentioned there was a cost for to use the toilet.
The boat ride was ok. I am glad I was able to do the boat ride prior to this otherwise, it would have been a poor experience. This boat ride offered no music, no food and if we wanted drinks we bought them from another boat. If we wanted music, we had to pay five hundred pesos, which we did. The boat driver stopped at a dock, ran, and got a speaker to play music. We played music for about 10 minutes then it was time to get off. It would have been nice to have been told we were not getting back on the boat, since some of us left belongings on the boat.
We arrived at the place where the mariachi band was playing, and tacos were being served. The time here should have been shortened. The tacos were premade and served in Styrofoam containers. We “thought” we had a choice of chicken, beef, and cheese. We told the lady we wanted chicken, and we were served cheese, chicken, and mushroom. Horrible tacos! This service was “Americanized” I think this would have been better to have someone making the tacos in front of us instead of premade. There was no place to sit and eat or listen to the mariachi band.
For future I would strongly suggest revamping this tour and make it more cemetery and day of the dead related then adding the boat ride and mariachi band.

Xochimilco - Bus ride was a little longer than expected. Driver disappeared for over 20 min when we all waited at the bus and it started to rain. No apologies or explanation but we felt rushed afterwards and did not know if the rest of the tour would be affected. Alexis was our guide and she was very good.

Enjoyable experience with some improvement needed. - Our tour guides were amazing, entertaining and incredibly knowledgeable about Mexico City, Mexican history and culture, the Day of the Dead festivities and old Mexican legends. The graveyard was a beautiful experience and it was amazing to be welcomed by families to come and enjoy the celebrations with them. The boat ride was ok, the mariachi and tequila were enjoyable but the boat ride was a bit bland apart from that. I hope Amigo Tours chooses a different travel company in the future as our driver tried to find a shortcut leading to the bus getting stuck in a street market and unable to back up. Because of this, we had to get out and get a 40-minute uber back to our hotel.

Better things to do with 6hrs - Price is fair for what it is, experience is average at best. highlight for us were the Mariachi band at the 'campcha' at the end.
Tour started at time at around 18:00 though queuing to board buses started much earlier at 17:30.
From there it was a 1hr30min ride to the cemetery.
Our tour consisted of 38 people with only 2 guides though only 1 Gabe any information to the group.
The ride was long due to traffic and the brief history/culture show we were given by Lilly was erratic and opinionated.
At arrival to the cemetery it was required to park further away needing a 15min walk to entrance.
This was then followed by another erratic orientation of meeting location and facilities (backtracking between points) then another cultural chat on respect, before being given 40mins to explore by ourselves.
We opted to go eat at the nearby market out front as no mention of food availability was made, this was excellent local food and great value though our own doing.
After 40mins we met back at the centre and had a further erratic tour into the cemetery without being told that this was the opportunity to take some photos on the way to the exit. (No explanation what the point was.)
Finally another 30mins in bus to the canals.
It was quiet and no effort to try and have some raised spirits ending at the champa.
Food and drink available but not a great price. The Mariachi band was amazing but 1hr here was too much with us all tired and bored and very ready to leave at 11:11.
A final bus ride back were we all mostly slept which was around an hour.
Overall half the tour is spent on the bus with the rest being uninspired. Tour would benefit by reducing the size down to something more manageable and making more a point for food/drink involved.
lovely guides but just too thinly spread

Don't buy this tour!!! - Unfortunately it was a bad experience, nothing that was offered was fulfilled. The tour started an hour and a half later, the goal of our trip was to take my parents (seniors) to live an experience like they told of Xochimilco and because the tour proposed this and a plus with the day of the dead.
The visit to the pantheon was not fulfilled, we never saw mariachis, the tour by trajinera was only to take us from the starting point to the chinampa, where we arrived without security measures, outdoors under a ranch, the rain did not help and the road was all muddy.
Instead of living a local experience of Mexican culture as we were sold, we turned out to be at a bohemian party at almost 7 pm, far from civilization without access to retreat, things got out of control the moment they stopped charging the liquor and left the bar open, the experience we paid for became a drunken one.
We approached the guide Ada and expressed our dissatisfaction and that we wanted to leave, after an hour and a half of requesting to leave, (almost 10 pm) the solution we were given because of our dissatisfaction was to give me a “free drink” in what we waited for a trajinera to finally arrive. As we went to be picked up there was too much mud and no one helped the children and the elderly people to get on it, including my mom and other tourists, to such an extent that no one took the rope from the trajener and it started to move away from the shore causing several of the group to slip, including my dad, the trajener pressed my leg and pulled me into the canal. (The guide was repeatedly informed that my mother had a knee replacement and my concern about the muddy ground conditions and the possibility of slipping.)
There was a lot of disrespect from the tour staff towards us, who paid for a pleasant experience, there was a lot of irresponsibility on the part of the operator, in this case the Ada guide as the solution that gave us for our dissatisfaction was that we will take pictures and excused saying that she was hired to give the guide and that the administrative things she did not see, that suggested that we contact the company where we bought the tour in this case (Tripadvisor) since the company where she worked (friend tours) only provided the service.
It was evident that the girl was in a situation that she could not control, I understand that they can pass unexpectedly but often a solution like canceling the activity because of the delay is much better than not fulfilling what was promised and especially the attitude and the way to deal with the situation, since there are ways of speaking, I try to have empathy and justify this to possible lack of experience and maturity of the guide.
I suggest that they comply with the agreement and that they do not mislead the tourist, and that when there are excursions with large groups go two guides that support themselves and more when there are children and elderly people who need help to get on the trajineras.
The tour fiasco they ended up giving was never the one they offered and definitely wasn’t suitable for people from 0 to 99 years old, it wasn’t familiar. I feel ripped off.

Complete false advertising - False advertising:
- it was so overbooked I didn't get to travel with the guide hence had 0 explanation of day of the dead traditions
- driver was over 1.5 hours late
- cemetery visit was cancelled
- no tour of the floating gardens
- we were floating in the darkness and rain with a boat that ran into trees
- the chimpana was chaotic and folks on the tour who didn't pay the full fee were able to get the free food regardless

Not worth the time or money. - This was a terrible experience. The tour which was to start at 3:15PM ended up departing Mexico City around 5pm. We made it to Xochimilco around 6:30p and by the time we boarded the boat it was past 7pm. The “three course meal” was just small bites.
We made it back to Mexico City exactly at 11:30pm. A 3-hour tour took over eight hours and ruined all other plans. If the transportation and dinner were improved this could be so much better.
In the meantime, find another option to visit Xochimilco!

Bad tour not recommended - It was a total scam, from the start we were kept waiting two hours to start the tour, the guide Ada very rude. They didn't give us anything on offer. They divided us into two groups and the first one we were in are the guide like two hours until we told her we wanted to leave the place because it was not what she said she could do nothing about, two hours we were asking her to return us what we did not want to continue and until she saw us angry she asked for a trajinera, left us alone when we got on it and four of us who were going fell and suffered injuries and she simply said that we were not her responsibility. The food offered bad and not enough for everyone because they did not measure the number of people who would go to a horrible party that had absolutely nothing to do with dead day. It was a total lie they offer. I don't recommend it, it's not worth it. Don’t waste your money on something that is not emblematic of Mexico and the experience was terrible.

Worst trip ever. Total waste of time and money - Utterly dire. Hardly any English guiding. Group mostly Spanish. Bus 1.5 hours late. Had to pay 45 pesos to use waiting place toilet. Then 10 pesos when we arrived. No cemetery tour. Taken on a boat trip to a trance music venue. Not remotely day of the Dead. A couple of appetiser type food. Missed all of anything remotely day of the Dead. Gutting. Total waste of money. Plenty of cheap booze. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! Please give me my money back!
