Highlights
  • Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi - Beyond Turin, there are several wonderful places to visit, such as the Hunting Palace of Stupinigi. Built in the 1730s to a design by Juvarra, it is perhaps his finest work. The exterior of the palace has been restored, while the interior remains as luxurious as ever and includes the Museo d’Arte e Ammobiliamento, a collection of art and furniture from other Savoy palaces. Stupinigi castle is closed on Mondays.

  • Sacra di San Michele - A formidable fortified abbey perched atop a rocky hill, the Sacra di San Michele. To reach the church, you must climb 150 steps, passing 12th-century sculptures from the Porta dello Zodiaco, a splendid Romanesque doorway adorned with zodiac signs. On the left side of the interior are 16th-century frescoes depicting New Testament themes; on the right are scenes of the church’s founding. Note that some sections of the abbey are open only on weekends, and during particularly busy times, visits may be limited to hour-long tours. Weather permitting, the views from the walls and terraces surrounding the church are breathtaking.

A jewel - Despite being Piedmontese we had not yet visited this Savoy residence. Thanks to a spectacular day and a guide, Tatiana, who was truly excellent and very knowledgeable, we had a beautiful and thorough visit. What to say about the structure, fantastic! But what surprised me was the furnishings, some, just some of the Piffetti furniture on display are worth the visit. Once the restoration of the gardens is finished we will return!

Majestic hunting lodge - I really enjoyed visiting this further Savoy residence. Truly beautiful and full of various furniture and furnishings. The large living room with a huge chandelier truly leaves you speechless. The large and long avenue to get there is also very suggestive.

Cute but.... - Very beautiful castle, small but delightful, set for numerous fiction and films. The downside is the exorbitant cost of the ticket given the denied access to some areas and also to the castle park. However, very nice and easily reachable from Turin by bus
