On the 24th of August, 79 A.D., life was serenely progressing along the Vesuvius hills. These picturesque locales boasted opulent landholders, vivacious traders, storeholders, and proficient craftsmen. However, the Vesuvius burst engulfed and preserved these lively scenes underneath volcanic debris for nearly two millennia, turning it into an open-air archive of the past, revealed through excavations initiated in the 18th century.
Today, we will embark on a journey back in time to explore these historical quarters, commencing with the town of Pompeii, its manor houses, the streets, the marketplace, and the detailed snapshot of a society that has stood the test of time. We will observe and feel the raw power of what is now referred to as the most threatening volcano on the planet, the Vesuvius.
