Playing with Food in Naples is Fun - Manuela was such a joy. Part entertainer, Part educator. Guided through making three styles of pasta and tiramisu. Best part is enjoying the fruits of our labors, dining on our creations. Such simple ingredients and key techniques to make preparation almost foolproof. Can't wait to get home and make these dishes for guests. Great rainy day option.

Pasta making by the Castle - It was a lot of fun. Much easier than I expected. My instructor was a very sweet young woman who is very skilled at her job. I'm not sure what I expected, but using only hands and a rolling pin surprised me. And it was very tasty! The chef prepared our fresh pasta and served it for lunch. Also included was one drink of choice. I ordered an Aperol Spritz and it was the best I've ever had! I enjoyed my beautiful luch by a window overlooking a castle!! So cool! The restaurant is very close to the cruise port and easiy to walk to. It is a quaint place with fun decor and amazing staff. It was closed during the classes ( pizza class happening downstairs while I was upstairs), but as soon as it opened it filled quickly with locals as well as tourists. Obviously a favorite, and the pizza looked amazing. I highly recommend this excursion!

If zero stars was an option… - From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt off. The group before us had just finished their session and were eating their food, but they looked completely miserable. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a preview of what was to come. Our class was a large group made up of smaller groups, all of whom seemed very nice. However, there was little opportunity to interact due to the teaching style. The instructor ran the class in a very rigid, almost military manner. Instructions were unclear, rushed through quickly, and repeated without any further explanation when questions were asked. It felt more like watching a pre recorded demonstration than being taught in person. The set up was also poor. Fourteen of us were crammed around a small collection of tables, with only three bowls between us to discard egg whites while preparing tiramisu. The tiramisu ended up being the only edible part of the meal, but even that was mishandled. There were not enough portions for everyone. Two of my friends were left out entirely, and the instructor’s solution was to share her own premade mixture between them, which was far from ideal. The lack of organisation showed throughout. At one point, the instructor snapped at a participant who was trying to follow along, and on another occasion she snapped at someone who asked for gloves, complaining that this meant she would have to go upstairs to get them. This created an uncomfortable and unwelcoming environment. Those sitting further away could not hear the instructions at all, while those close by could hear but still found them unclear. Struggling participants received no guidance, as the instructor simply moved on to the next step without checking if people were ready. When the pasta was collected, it was served communally on shared platters, meaning we did not even eat the food we had prepared ourselves. This might not have been a problem if the group had bonded, but since there was no opportunity for that, it just felt awkward. We then had to wait around for the same table to be cleared and reset for dining, during which time we witnessed staff loudly arguing with a customer. The meal itself was extremely poor. The pasta was undercooked, flavourless, and unpleasant to eat. While we were not expecting fine dining, the combination of badly prepared food, poor organisation, and an unfriendly atmosphere made for a very disappointing experience. Overall, the class lacked clear teaching, proper planning, and any sense of enjoyment. What could have been a fun and engaging evening turned into something stressful and uncomfortable. I would not recommend this class.
