Best part of my trip - An amazing trip from Fes to Marrakesh, beautiful scenery and incredible experiences in the desert. All accommodation was to a high standard and the guides were very knowledgeable. Would highly recommend taking the 4 day trip to spend longer in the desert.

Very comfortable transports and accommodation, as well as knowledgeable drivers and guides that explain well about the country, its heritage and the Moroccan and ancient traditions. Beautiful days in the desert. - So glad we did the 4 day trip. We were able to add on a day of activities and site seeing. The sunset, moonrise, and sun rise in the desert were beautiful. Each driver and guide was friendly and knowledgeable Mohammed shared a lot of good information about Moroccan life.

Unforgettable experience - Very nice experience. We booked a 4 day tour from Fes to Marrakesh, I would recommend spending the 1st night in hotel and 2nd night in Camp. This is more relaxing and you have more time to enjoy. Aimad was in touch the whole time. No negative.

Desert Smiles Tour Made me Smile - I checked out many tours before deciding on Desert Smiles Tour and it was the right choice. Our guide Mohammed is personal, did his best to resolve any issues and went above and beyond to make sure everyone was taken care of. Everything, particularly the desert stay exceeded my expectations : lodging and food were great, camel ride, transportation etc. Thank you for a great trip!!

Desert delight - Amazing trip. Accommodation was fine, transport worked great and everyone involved were so friendly and helpful. The desert experience was the highlight, everything about it was magical.

The first day was... - The first day was fabulous. We left Fes and we made several places to our camel bivouac. Our guide spoke French and he knew this part of the country well. The second day, we were taken to a Riad in the middle of the desert at 7:30 in the morning until the next day. I had to write to the organizer to mention that we had to go sandboarding and visit two other villages. Someone finally came to get us. She didn't speak French. We went to see a group of people making music and we came back to the Riad. I contacted the organizer who had us deliver a surfboard at 7pm. We were 4.... Dinner Service started at 7:30. We were never able to try sandboarding. Please note that I had taken care to email Desert Smile Tour to make sure it was included in the package and I have proof that it was. The other 2 days, the guide, who turned out to be a driver who did not speak our language, drove us here and there to take photos without any explanation. We even had to insist on visiting the movie studios. It’s a shame because it made us less enjoy our stay in Morocco.

Look for another tour - This was a long trip with a mix of highs and lows, but after reflecting on the overall experience, I would consider it below average. Tour Structure & Accuracy: The itinerary listed on Viator was slightly inaccurate and seemed to vary depending on which company or person was handling each leg of the journey. It appears that this tour operator outsources various parts of the trip—drivers, guides, hotels, and desert camps—based on availability, so there’s no consistency in what you'll get. Day 1: The first day was mostly driving, which was expected. However, we only had a driver, not a guide, so the stops along the way lacked any meaningful context. We did see monkeys, which was fun, but be cautious: vendors will offer peanuts to feed them, then ask for more money. Pay no more than 5 dirhams. There was also a stop where we were told it was our "last chance" to buy water and turbans before the desert. This is simply not true. The prices were a scam—€10 for water and €20 for a turban. You’ll have other opportunities to buy those items at normal prices. The hotel and dinner that night in Merzouga were okay, but by then, everyone was too tired to care much. Day 2: This was a frustrating day. The tour owner told me I’d be picked up at 2 PM, so I tried to kill time in Merzouga. There’s not much to do—it’s a town built for tourism—but I did enjoy a great lunch and left the restaurant a glowing review. Back at the hotel, no one showed up at 2. After messaging the tour owner, my pickup finally arrived at 3:35. The driver, who turned out to be the desert camp owner, said he was only informed about me 30 minutes prior. The tour owner blamed the driver, which felt unprofessional and unfair—especially since most reviews suggest a 4 PM pickup anyway (to align with a sunset camel ride). Passing blame with no accountability was a red flag. Desert Camp Experience: The desert camp itself was fantastic. The camel ride was beautiful, though extremely windy—definitely bring sunglasses and something to wrap your face and hair. I shared a tent with two strangers, which was fine. The tents had Wi-Fi, basic running water, and electricity—enough to check your phone and use the bathroom, but not reliable enough for a full shower. Dinner was decent, with beer and wine available for purchase. After dinner, we enjoyed music and stargazing, and I had a great conversation with the camp owner about the region's history. We went to bed early to catch the sunrise camel ride the next morning. Day 3: A new driver joined us for the final two days. The first day with him included several stops that felt random and uninteresting—mainly shops. Lunch was overpriced, and the hotel dinner was nearly inedible. The hotel itself was okay, but noisy guests made it difficult to sleep. Day 4: This day had more engaging stops, including famous movie filming locations, which I really enjoyed. However, the driver's behavior became concerning. He was visibly irritable, honking constantly, yelling at other drivers, and driving so aggressively that the tires were skidding and burning. The smell of rubber was overwhelming, and several passengers felt sick. He also pressured us to visit a specific art shop in Ait Benhaddou with overpriced paintings. When we found similar art for a third of the price elsewhere, he became agitated and yelled at the local artist in Berber. This incident left us all feeling uneasy for the remainder of the trip. At lunch, many people skipped eating due to the stress. I ate but was served undercooked chicken and ended up with food poisoning the next day, which ruined most of my time in the riad. Adding to the discomfort, the driver persistently pressured me to leave him a review—he even insisted I do it before leaving the lunch spot. This aggressive push made me question the authenticity of many of the glowing reviews for tours in Morocco on this platform. Final Thoughts: The Sahara Desert and the movie locations are worth visiting. However, I’d recommend a shorter tour (2 nights instead of 3) and, based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend this particular tour operator.
