Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Valley of the Roses – Dades Gorge
The adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your accommodation in Marrakech, around 7 a.m. The journey will take you across the High Atlas Mountains, traversing the Tizi N’Tichka pass at an altitude of 2260 meters. After several stops, you will reach a significant highlight of your trip, the UNESCO World Heritage site Ksar Ait Ben Haddou, famous for hosting numerous successful Hollywood films such as Gladiator, Prince of Persia, and Game of Thrones. After lunch, the journey continues to Ouarzazate, known as “The Gate of the Sahara.”
The trip proceeds to the most notable oasis valleys in southern Morocco, the Dades Valley, also known as “The Valley of One Thousand Kasbahs,” passing through the Valley of the Roses and the city of Skoura with its vast palm groves.
Day 2: Dades Gorge – Tinghir – Todra Gorge – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert
After breakfast at the hotel, the journey continues to Tinghir and Todra Gorge, located 45 km from Dades Gorge. Here, you can enjoy the stunning landscapes of the oasis, with beautiful palm groves and the remarkable Ksar Tinghir, also known as the “Jewish Quarter.” The road continues to one of the world’s most spectacular canyons, Todra, where you can take a short walk to explore the area.
The journey then heads towards the mesmerizing dunes of Erg Chebbi, part of the Merzouga Desert. Upon arrival at the hotel in Merzouga, you will prepare for a 90-minute camel trek across the sand dunes, perfectly timed to witness the changing colors of the dunes at sunset. Upon reaching the camp, where you will spend the night in nomadic tents, you will savor delicious traditional Moroccan cuisine by a campfire, entertained by local Berbers playing their drums.
Day 3: Erg Chebbi (Merzouga Desert) – Erfoud – Midelt – Azrou – Ifrane – Fes
Bid farewell to the group returning to Marrakech and meet your new driver for the journey to Fes. Once settled in your new van (maximum of 6 passengers), embark on a long drive to Fes, crossing the Ziz Valley through Errachidia, the capital of the Tafilalt region. The journey continues to Midelt, where you will have a leisurely lunch before driving through the Middle Atlas Mountains, with its Cedar Forests and the Berber towns of Imouzzar and Ifrane. Arrival in Fes is expected late in the afternoon.
Your shared Marrakech to Fes desert tour concludes with a drop-off at your chosen riad or hotel in Fes.
