Mark made every turn educational and memorable! - It was a bit of a drive from Liverpool but Mark shared a lot of history and comedy along the way. The van was very comfortable. The countryside is gorgeous and the boat and train rides were relaxing. Bowness offered many eateries and shops and benches on the lakeshore for watching the swans, geese, sea birds, and parades of tourists and their many dogs. Hawkswaith has chocolate and gingerbread! It was nice to see Beatrix Potter’s farm down in the valley on one of our stops!

Beautiful Tour, Amazing Experience - Mark (our driver and tour guide) was very informative, funny, and friendly. He shared the histories and important people of each place we visited and gave very clear directions about next steps for different attractions throughout the tour (like the boat cruise and train ride). He shared some of Beatrix Potter’s stories as part of his tour guiding. It was a beautiful day when we went on the tour so each location had clear visibility and no rain! We recommend grabbing a quick bite and walking around Bowness-on-Windermere before the boat cruise, going to Wordsworth’s grammar school in Hawkshead (they just opened their library and are working to restore and preserve their books, most of which were donated by past students, including Wordsworth), and at Tarn Hows, take some pictures, but make sure to put the camera down to really take in the view—there’s nothing like it. Bottom line: if you love a mix of nature, history, and literature, this is a great tour to take!

A Perfect Day Trip to the Lake District with Mountain Goat Tours - If you're looking for an unforgettable day trip from Liverpool, Mountain Goat Tours is the way to go! My journey to the breathtaking Lake District was made even more special thanks to our incredible tour guide, Jean. The two-hour drive from Liverpool to the Lake District flew by, as Jean kept us entertained throughout, breaking up the trip with engaging stories and interesting stops. Once we arrived, we had time to explore, grab a bite to eat, and browse some charming souvenir shops before boarding the lake cruise. The boat ride was a wonderful way to soak in the stunning scenery, and the best part—it seamlessly led straight to the classic steam train! Stepping onto the vintage locomotive felt like stepping back in time, adding a nostalgic charm to the adventure. Jean then took us to another lovely small town for a late lunch, followed by more photo opportunities of the picturesque landscapes. Every stop was carefully planned, making sure we got the most out of our visit. The entire experience was well worth the money and the drive. From start to finish, we got to witness some of the most beautiful parts of northern England, all while enjoying great company and effortless organization. If you're considering this tour, don’t hesitate—it’s truly a must-do!

Amazing day in the Lake District - The weather was brilliant and the day was even better. The scenery was absolutely amazing and the sun unveiled some quality photo opportunities of blue skies with light clouds over the mountains. The ferry was relaxing and with the lack of wind went smoothly across the lake. The train carriages are much more comfortable than I imagined with a short ride on steam train was a memorable experience. The tour guide Jean was friendly and knowledgeable about the locations and added back stories to the places that we visited. Easily a 5 star experience and well worth the money.

Fantastic Day tour - My husband Mark and I had an amazing day on this tour. Our tour guide Jean was lovely and so knowledgeable giving us lots of history about the lakes, farms, mills and it's surrounding areas. She informed us of everything throughout the day and even gave us lots of stops at amazing sports to take pictures. We enjoyed the ferry cruise and the steam train ride and wandering around Bowness on Windermere market. There is so much to do and amazing scenery we will definitely be back to do it again. Highly recommend.

Highly recommended - Jean, our driver and guide, was amazing. She is knowledgeable and professional and an excellent driver. It was a very rainy day, but she was flexible and took us on interesting detours and roads to make up for the weather.

Nice day out - A great bus with giant windows. Nice day trip. Guide was ok. Could have been a bit more informative about Wordsworth and Potter. Ride on train was really short and uneventful. The boat ride was fine. No time to explore the towns except one which was stop for lunch.
