Good tour - It wasn’t clear to me what was included in the price. I thought that lunch was included but it wasn’t. The price is basically for transportation and a guide. Entrance to Chichen Itza and lunch are extra expenses not included in the Viator price. Expect to pay a total of about $150 per person. That being said, the tour was excellent. Our guide Delio was very knowledgeable and passionate about Mayan history. The visit to the cenote and to Izamal was an added bonus. I felt that $150 per person was well worth the money. It was a full day of fun and enjoyment.

Get up early and go! - Get up early and do this tour! Sure a 6am departure isn’t something you look forward to but beating the crowds at Chichen Itza sure is! We were some of the first to enter and get great photos sans thousands of other tourists in the way. Our guide was a dead set legend. So much energy, humour and knowledge. You couldn’t ask for a more kind and wonderful person to take you around. The only word of caution is don’t be like me when looking for souvenirs. I literally NEVER buy souvenirs. Never! But today I wanted the obsidian disc to look at future solar eclipses with. I was totally fleeced and paid way too much. Bargain with them! You don’t even have to bargain hard. Whatever you do, don’t be me! Lol The Cenote was beautiful and what a unique experience! The people on our tour were fantastic. An all round special day!

Perfect way to see a variety of local sights - Delio was a very gracious and attentive guide. He gave an excellent tour at Chihen Itzá and the amount of time we had there was perfect. The highlight for us was the cenote. Incredible natural wonder with only our group to truly enjoy it. The meal was excellent. It was a long hot day but we expected that and we would totally recommend everything about this tour!

Inolvidable! - This was a really special experience. Waking up early to beat the crowds at Chichen Itza is such a good idea, because es una locura! The cenote with lunch was as great as it sounds. Our guide Delio was superb. Not only did he convey his deep knowledge of Chichen Itza, but he was also so attentive to our every need all day. You can tell he loves his work. An amazing day out.

Fully Enjoyable Day - It is worth it to get up early for this Chichén Itzá visit. We arrived just before 8 am. There were not even a hundred visitors waiting to get in. When we left at 10:30, there were what seemed like thousands of visitors flooding the whole site. And they all are clapping to hear the quetzal call. Noisy and obnoxious. Plus there were at least 100 vendors selling mostly kitsch stationed everywhere in the park. We saw a few high quality items for sale - handmade carvings - but mostly crap. The cenote you visit next on the tour is not open to the sky. It is a cave with stalagtites that is in a private backyard. Lovely to swim in and beautiful to see. A lovely lunch, carefully prepared by the family who own the backyard, including fruits from their property. The last stop, Izamal, was a sweet town with some nice handicrafts available, and worth a visit. It has a mostly unexcavated pyramid that was likely twice the size of El Castillo in Chichén Itzá. You can walk to the top of pyramid. Hernan, our guide, was very interesting and had a lot of knowledge. He also had coffee waiting for us at the 6 am meet up plus sandwiches. If you want an extensive tour of Chichén Itzá, I suggest a full day tour - or at least a 4 hour tour - of just the site itself. It is a fascinating place. Oh, and don't go on Sunday. Even MORE visitors.

Good day out - Enjoyed our day out with our guide Ed. Early start got us in to these awesome ruins first before the heat and greater crowds. The private cenote swim and lunch was fabulous.

Great experience - Edgar put forth a great effort knowing only a decent amount of English! He was effective and showed he enjoyed his job!! Driving skills might need some work he was pressing the gas and letting up constantly causing for a jerking motion for most the drive. Don’t know why???

Great for the early visit to Chichen Itza - A very full day, super friendly guide called Delio and the main draw being we got into Chichen Itza first thing in the morning, beating the queues. However the combination with other sites and several hour-long drives meant the guide didn't cover as much of the archeological site as we'd like. It was more a basic overview, pointing out the ball court, rather than going through Mayan history and putting the site into context. I get this is to appeal to a wider range of tourists, but if you want to be more informed rather than have an hour of free time yourself, a Chichen Itza-specific tour might be better. The cenote, local food and Izamal were also interesting to visit (the guides mention at booking that the food comes at an extra charge) - on these parts you're pretty much given free time to do it yourself. A great day overall and felt like good value, but that main cost is going towards the early start to get into Chichen Itza early. So depends what you're after!
