Journey to Siberut from Padang

Padang - An early start is required to catch the fast boat at 7 am to Siberut Island. Arrival is expected around midday at Sikabaluan harbor, where lunch can be enjoyed. The journey continues with an arrival at Maileppet, a small harbor on Siberut Island, at 1:30 pm.

Muntei - The local guide will escort travelers to Muntei, a quaint village near the harbor, where they can relax while the guide procures all necessary supplies for the trip and secures permission from local authorities to enter the national park.

A motorized canoe will then be taken up the Reirekek River for 1 to 1.5 hours until reaching the forest.

A walk of 2 hours or more will lead to the “uma,” the traditional Mentawai house.

Upon arrival at the “uma,” the remainder of the day can be spent exploring, relaxing, and getting acquainted with the Mentawai family.

Dinner and overnight stay with local inhabitants.

Return to Padang

Muntei - In the morning, bid farewell to the Mentawai family and embark on a jungle walk, followed by a motorized canoe ride down the river back to Muntei village. Lunch will be at Muara Siberut (a local restaurant) while waiting for the fast boat.

Padang - The fast boat departs at 3 pm, returning to Padang city. Arrival is anticipated between 6 and 6:30 pm, followed by a transfer to the hotel.
