The tour kicks off in the morning with a convenient hotel pickup in Mendoza. Travel in a comfortable minivan through Villa Potrerillos, a charming village situated 45 minutes away. The journey continues to Quebrada del Condor, with a stop at the scenic Mirador de la Hoyada viewpoint along the way.

About two hours after departing Mendoza, the group arrives at the gorge, where a traditional Argentine breakfast is served to the small group.

Following a safety briefing and instructions from the guide, participants mount their sturdy horses, specifically bred for endurance in mountainous regions, and embark on a rugged trail. The 3.5-hour horseback adventure begins at the base of the Cordón del Plata, an Andean mountain range in the Uco Valley. This stunning landscape, with its snowcapped peaks, is teeming with wildlife. Riders should keep an eye out for llamas, foxes, hares, condors, and other remarkable birds during the ride.

Midway through the journey, there is a pause at a creek’s edge to savor an infusion of mate, a beloved drink made from yerba mate leaves steeped in hot water. Afterward, the group saddles up again and follows ancient trails until reaching a viewpoint. At an elevation of 9,185 feet (2,800 meters) above sea level, the breathtaking views include the Cordón del Plata ridge and the Potrerillos Valley.

Upon completing the horseback ride in the late afternoon, participants dismount to enjoy a traditional Argentine asado (barbecue) for lunch.

The full-day tour concludes with a return trip by minivan to the hotel in Mendoza.
