Woodruff-Fontaine House - Tours are self-guided ONLY. The Woodruff-Fontaine House Museum is a French Victorian mansion built in 1871. Furnished in period antiques, you will learn of the fascinating history of the Woodruff and Fontaine families who resided here.

- Woodruff-Fontaine House - Tours are self-guided ONLY. The Woodruff-Fontaine House Museum is a French Victorian mansion built in 1871. Furnished in period antiques, you will learn of the fascinating history of the Woodruff and Fontaine families who resided here.
Tours usually last one hour and can be modified for special interests and age levels. Tours may not be appropriate for children under age 5. Since all three floors are visited on the tour, as can the basement, it should be noted that there is no elevator available. The first floor of the building is handicapped accessible, and handicapped bathroom facilities are available in the Carriage House.

Great example of a Victorian mansion - The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The house has been renovated very well. The self-guided tour has lots of excellent information. The period pieces include some that are original to the home and have been donated by descendants of the former owners. Instead of traditional “Do not touch” signs, the house has signs that say something like, “Everyone who ever touched this lovely piece is now dead. Play it safe and keep your fingers to yourself.” Clever way to get the message across.

Beautiful restored home - Friendly staff to check in and give you the family basics and answer any questions. Beautiful home and interesting to learn a little bit about the family and other historic events of the time. We were in the home about an hour.

Beautiful preserved and... - Beautiful preserved and restored mansion showcasing Victorian era living. Self-guided tour, but docents were available for questions and additional information. Exhibits change seasonally, so will return to see new material.

A Memphis historic gem - Great historic mansion. As we were staying opposite we had to visit and were not disappointed, the house has been restored beautifully by the preservation society and the guide was super informative about the houses history. Sad that so few of these mansions survived urban renewal.
Some fabulous details downstairs, the door hinges were so ornate!

Great History - We needed to kill some time and elected to go to the Woodruff-Fontaine house. We enjoyed the architecture and furniture. The history was very interesting. I highly recommend this and the other houses on the block.

Magical Victorian Jewel - I don't know when I have been so positively enamored with a home & her lovely curator, Georgia. The obvious care and love shown to this Victorian jewel shows in every room, every piece of furniture, and every detail. For October, they had the whole house set in "mourning", educating visitors about Victorian families' customs and traditions after losing a loved one. Truly a worthwhile visit and one I want to repeat every time I have the chance to visit Memphis.

Wonderful visit - This is the first historic house I’ve been in in a long time that let you tour all three floors. The young ladies who gave the historic details were wonderful. I highly recommend this tour.

The home is beautiful and... - The home is beautiful and the staff are very informative and helpful. Upon arrival one must knock on the door to be let in as it is locked at all times. I highly recommend taking an uber rather than walking.
