Ghajnsielem - A group of dedicated local volunteers are putting the finishing touches on the tenth edition of Bethlehem f’Għajnsielem, an event that has captivated thousands of visitors over the past two years. This nativity village is located next to the main square of Għajnsielem on the island of Gozo, just a five-minute walk from Mgarr Harbour. Aptly named “Bethlehem f’Għajnsielem,” this life-size crib is set on 20,000 square meters of fields in an area known as Ta’ Passi. It comes alive in December with around 150 actors transporting visitors back to Judea 2,000 years ago. The atmosphere is truly unique, with horses turning mills, villagers performing their daily tasks, shepherds dwelling in caves, animals roaming in enclosed spaces, and a humble couple caring for their newborn in a grotto.
-
Villa Rundle Garden - Various Christmas-related items are available from different stalls set up around the lower end of Villa Rundle Gardens, near Republic Street. Each stall is operated by a local voluntary organization that provides social services to Gozo residents. Proceeds from each stall support the respective organization being promoted.
The stalls offer a variety of items, including food, drinks, sweets, Christmas decorations, plants and flowers, and traditional pasturi. Entertainment is provided throughout the event, featuring appearances by Father Christmas, screenings of Christmas-themed videos, storytelling sessions, and a Christmas crib corner.
- Citadel - The Gozo Cittadella is a popular daytime destination, with its museums, interpretation center, and stunning cathedral open to the public. However, a night visit is also highly recommended, though often overlooked by tourists.
The Gozo Citadel is beautifully illuminated at night, offering countless photo opportunities that will impress social media followers or friends back home. Inside the Cittadella, visitors experience a sense of peace and tranquility, as it is rarely visited at night. The quiet is only occasionally interrupted by the rustling wind, church bells, or a curious cat.
