Embrace the Rain: Medellín’s Indoor Cultural Escapes
Medellín, a city known for its eternal spring, offers a unique charm even when the skies are overcast and the rain is relentless. This weekend, as the rain taps gently on the rooftops, it’s the perfect time to dive into the city’s rich cultural tapestry. Start your day with a visit to the Coffee Tour(Colombian Coffee Tour), available from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. This immersive experience takes you from the plantation to your cup, unraveling the mysteries of Colombia’s renowned coffee. As you sip on freshly brewed coffee, let the stories of Colombia’s coffee culture warm your soul, much like the beverage itself.
The tour not only offers a deep dive into the coffee-making process but also provides a scenic journey through the lush green mountains surrounding Medellín. As you travel to Jardín, a picturesque coffee town, the rain-soaked landscapes offer a serene backdrop, enhancing the beauty of the journey. The highlight of the tour is the cable car ride to a small mountain, where you can enjoy a traditional lunch with breathtaking views. A recent review from September 2024 captures the essence of this experience:
A Memorable and Fun Trip! - We really loved this day tour. Our tour guide, David, was awesome. He picked us up at the hotel early in the morning and we picked up some fresh coffee and pandebono and pan de yuca and started making the drive to Jardin. We had great conversation and the perfect musical soundtrack for the drive. We enjoyed the green scenic views of the mountains outside Medellin. Jardin is a cute town with colorful painted homes and clean streets to stroll down, we are glad we went. It’s the perfect place to relax, have some fresh juice, and enjoy the ambiance. The cable car was a fun experience and the church in the central plaza is beautiful. After visiting Jardin we headed to the coffee finca (La Florida), which was also an impressive apiary, keeping many different species of bees (abejas). David made the experience so memorable, changing the vibes with classical music as we ascended a flower-lined dirt road up a dirt road to majestic views of mountain valleys lined with coffee and banana trees. The coffee experience started with some education and tasting, then we were off to pick beans. After picking beans, we learned how to process them for roasting and grinding. We loved the whole experience and left with a lot of honey and coffee to bring home. The lunch provided was really filling and delicious. I highly recommend this tour, it was one of the most fun days we had in our 2 week trip. Hanging out with David all day was like being with an old friend, hope we can meet again someday! Guatapé is renowned for its vibrant architecture and rich history, making it a perfect escape on a rainy day.
The tour includes a climb up the famous rock, offering panoramic views that are simply breathtaking, even under a cloudy sky. As you wander through the town, the colorful houses and intricate socalos tell stories of the region’s past. A review from June 2024 highlights the cultural richness of this tour:
Lot of Culture - Diego recommended this one to us. It was really worth it. The views were amazing, breath taking. It was all fun, the climbing. He then takes you to the city where you learn a lot about the culture and history of the city that is Guatapé. He also has this one restaurant he recommended that has the best beans I’ve had in a long time (Reviewed at: 2024-06-04)
The tour also includes a visit to a replica of the old Peñol, adding a historical dimension to your adventure. With private transportation included, you can relax and enjoy the journey, knowing that every detail is taken care of.
