Beautiful scenery - Great day trip filled with beautiful scenery, great food, and a nice climb up the rock. It takes 2-2.5 hours to get there, but there are things to see along the way.

Phenomenal guide and company! - Sergio was our guide on the Social Transformation Tour, co-led by in Comuna Trece. Both were incredible and knowledgeable guides. We enjoyed their company very much - so much so that we booked a private tour of Guatapé. Sergio’s knowledge and expertise is huge and we benefited! We will definitely book with this company again!

Just perfect! Perfecto! - A private tour is the best way to see Guatape. You travel at your own pace. A private tour was especially appropriate because of the current state of Covid. Our guide Hector was amazing. While he spoke English I got to practice my Spanish with him. The town of Guatape is beautiful and serene. And lunch, OMG was muy rico! I will be back for sure for a longer visit as there is so much to see and so much shopping:0 And, of course we made it to the top of El Penol! What a vista! You cannot beat that. I am ready to move there!

Great tour! Excellent guide!!! - You will want to take this tour!!! Juan Carlos was my tour guide. He was very friendly and easy to get along with. He picked me up from my hotel on time, was very knowledgeable about not only the tour itself, but also the vibrant culture and history of Colombia as well! Although we grew up in different parts of the world, we spent the day sharing stories and finding things we had in common as human beings, all while experiencing the beautiful countryside and learning about the amazing heritage and traditions of Colombia as well!! I would definately recommend this tour to anyone visiting Colombia and will be taking another tour with him the next time I visit this beautiful country!!! Ask for Juan Carlos - 5/5 stars for sure!!!!!

Excellent tour! - Our tour with Patricia as our guide and Guillermo, driver, was fantastic! They arrived early and we headed out of town. Our first stop was about an hour out for some "pan de queso" then on to El Penol. Along the way Patricia and Guillermo stopped wherever we asked for photos. They were so accommodating. We climbed El Penol, then went to Guatape for lunch and a walk around the town. Patricia was knowledgeable and a lot of fun. Highly recommended!

Great drive and great tour with a fantastic guide - We had a fantastic day traveling to Guatape’ and Penol rock. Our guide, Juan Carlos was fantastic. His knowledge of the area and a multitude of subjects made the day a memorably pleasant experience. The countryside is beautiful and both Penol and Guatape worth the drive. We highly recommend it,

An Entertaining Day - It's a two-hour bus ride from Medellin to El Peñol and Guatape, indeed a breath of fresh air. While the colorful town of Guatape and the rock, known as El Peñol seems to be what catches everyone's attention, there is actually a small town also named El Peñol which is worth a stop. Take note of the Iglesia de Piedra (also known as the Stone Church or Rock Temple) which has been designed to resemble the region's famed attraction, La Piedra, the Stone (otherwise known as El Peñol). There is also replicas of some of the important features of the original old town of El Peñol, including the church and town hall, which were destroyed when the area was flooded in the late 1970s to create the Peñol-Guatapé reservoir. Rising some 7,000' in elevation, the Rock can be ascended by a 720+-step stairway. While many consider it quite the feat, most of our group managed without too many hardships. The town of Guatapé I considered as a community in which we could spend a week or so in. Often dubbed Colombia's most colorful town, it comes by this moniker rightfully.
