Amazing contrast of tragic and serenity. Place of unmissable memory. - Located a little away from the city of Meaux in a vast park perfectly maintained, this building with bold architecture houses one of the most interesting history museums I have seen. Excellent scenography, evocative ambient sounds, reconstructions of trench life, poignant documents, very rich collection of uniforms... I particularly appreciated the space given to “France of the colonies” and the role of its inhabitants in defending our metropolitan territory. A reminder always useful!!! This museum is both sad and beautiful. Much aesthetics in the reconstructions, much beauty in the exhibition despite the tragic situations. A superb achievement, too little known. If I understood correctly, and if I interpreted correctly the earthworks in progress at the back of the museum, a trench reconstruction is in progress. This is a very good idea, which can only attract more people. This museum deserves it! We'll be back when this is over. Very friendly staff, very nice shop rich in books and souvenirs.

Great day - Coming as a family during a reconstruction for the 110 years of the Great War, we had a great day. For €5 per person we had access to the museum, exhibitions as well as camps and activities around the museum. Very well done, for children also, mine at 5 years old and was captivated and people very pedagogues. Exterior demonstration of a Saint Chamont tank recreated to scale and firing blanks (this remains very impressive). Presentation of a disappointing German flamethrower because info "sold" as a demonstration when it was just shown worn by a participant. The food tucks present were good but a little expensive ( 12€ the hot dog very well stocked but still). Different nationalities represented and exciting enthusiasts.

Very interesting visit - I visited this museum last year and found it extremely interesting. This is one of the historical museums I have loved the most. I really enjoyed seeing the reconstructions of the trenches.

There was areas to eat, There were a lot of car parking spaces . They have disabled parking if required.. This is suitable for most ages with great exhibits and a lot of memorabilia. headphones are available if required, We bought our tickets as we arrived not before hand. Would go again!

IMPRESSIVE from 2024 back to 1914-1918 - Go early so it's quiet. Park your car, walk through the gate and you have landed in the first World War, sounds, snorting horses, singing soldiers... walk quietly if you can because it has quite an impact. And on the way to the entrance, it is the bombings and sounds that you only know from TV (or from a previous visit to a war museum) that make you think. Walk further through the door and you are in the middle of the largest museum about the first World War. A must see, lifelike, impressive and a special experience. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to know more about the WWI, the history, the special setups and stories, in addition to the impressive uniforms from all over the world. Don't forget to visit the shop afterwards.

Essential to understand everything about the Great War - Simply unmissable museum. Everything is balanced… bold exterior architecture… even moving manicured park… with its statues, its machines and subtle originality with a circuit for broadcasting sounds outside linked to this war… the welcome is perfect. Reasonable price. Then the visit is quite simply very intelligently organized... educational without falling into gimmickry or excessive teaching... poignant films... perfectly eloquent reconstructions... an exhaustive visit for anyone interested in this war. Note the many buses of very young people who bring forth generations of future historians. It’s very encouraging to see this intergenerational mix. A magnificent moment of hope for peace. The shop is very well stocked... unfortunately no catering is a fairly notable lack or even not acceptable for such a place... otherwise go ahead.

Very nice museum - A very beautiful museum which should be visited by all middle and high school students in the region. It's more telling than any history lesson! Easy to access in every sense of the word... Everyone, depending on their age, will discover parts of this history that is despite everything not so distant... That our life is different from that of our great-grandparents.. .

Excellent museum with a superb collection of uniforms.A shame there is still no cafe. - Would have been five stars but for the ridiculous lack of signs to find the Museum on the approach road and then once in the car park. I arrived early and eventually found the entrance hidden behind a concrete wall by the car park with a small sign on the wall. Would no doubt have been easier to find when lots of people around. Mentioned this poor signage at the ticket desk and was told I am not the first to do so ! The museum is excellent. It is the huge collection of uniforms that stood out for me. So useful to add uniform colours to all those black and white films of the war. Also, good to see the French Colonial forces get a mention in a special exhibition.Good background information at the start about the Franco - Prussian War.Lots of interesting objects and good cine films as well. A shame that most of the display cabinet signs are only in French but then it is a French museum !

Wrong museum booked!!! - Wrong museum booked!! Instead of the museum in Peronne, the same museum in Meaux booked. Both museums of the Grande Guerre. Too bad, 40 euros to the buttons and the tickets can no longer be used later on date.
