Additional Information

Located on a hilltop at the heart of Malta, Mdina, the former capital, boasts control over two-thirds of the island. This splendid city is one of the best-preserved ancient fortified cities in Europe, showcasing exquisite medieval and baroque architectural styles. Referred to as the ‘Silent City’ by locals, it is home to several palaces owned by Maltese nobility, most of which serve as guest residences.

As you wander the narrow, twisting streets of Mdina, you’ll be transported back in time. Its majestic palaces, churches, and piazzas make this city one-of-a-kind and a must-visit while in Malta!
Rabat, a neighboring district of Mdina, is another town steeped in history with significant religious associations. It is claimed that during his 3-month stay in Malta, St Paul resided in a cave under the parish church. Follow your guide along the iconic streets of Rabat to get a glimpse of its captivating architectural features.

Very interesting experience for adults and children - We made the visit with Roberto. The visit was wonderful and the Guide had an overpowering personality. We enjoyed every single minute. Very prepared and really courteous. To think that without all this it would simply be a tour of a fortified city and instead it was a blast from the past. Thank you very much!

Great tour, amazing guide - highly recommend! - Nadine (guide) brought the city of MDina to life with her wealth of knowledge of the history and development of the city over the centuries. She provided an insight into the city that guide-books or self-guided tours could never hope to imitate, small details about the construction of some of the buildings or renovation techniques etc ... Would highly recommend.

An insightful tour around this amazing place - Earnest gave us a very insightful tour around Mdina and Rabat this morning. Detailing the history of the area from Neolithic times to present day. We were given headphones so we could hear him at all times. It was very warm but you are able to stick to the shade most of the time on your way around. A very accessible tour. About 4000 (walking) steps in total. Mostly flat. Defiantly take a bottle of water!

Walking tour with an excellent guide - Earnest - Earnest was our guide and he was brilliant. He spoke clearly, loud enough to be heard and was very informative. He really knows this city! Open to all questions and giving time to anyone who wanted to know more. And he also knew how to entertain. We had a great time. The tour was well planned too and we learned a great deal about Mdina, its history and its architecture.

Excellent and interesting history of Mdina and Rabat - The guide, whose name I sadly didn't get was entertaining as well as comprehensive in her knowledge of the old cities of Mdina and Rabat. Her descriptions and commentary were a pleasure to hear, and this tour of these cities should be on the to-do list of every visitor to Malta.

Second Tour With The Guide - Our second tour with Marisa. It was terrific. Again she brought in some good humour and struck a good balance of history vs the present.
