Never yelled at a bird before today - The boat ride through the lagoon was beautiful, and seeing giant crocodiles up close on the island was a highlight.
But nothing compares to holding a bowl of flippy-floppy newvorn turtles while waiting for sunset to release them.
Berating the birds that were trying to eat them, though...now THAT was an experience I never expected to have.
An incomparable day.

Amazing tour with a wonderful guide - We really enjoyed our tour. Very informative and interesting, not rusted and exactly what was said and more! The mangroves were beautiful and relaxing and we saw lots of wildlife and the turtles release was amazing. Rogelio was a safe driver and very nice to chat with. He took us to a mezcal tasting place at the end which was very cool! Thank you and highly recommend 😊

Amazing outing in Lagoon and with Turtles - Our driver/guide, Roger did a great job of safely and informatively getting us to the sanctuary and keeping us engaged but giving us space for a roadside bite and conversation. Clearly, I didn't read but part of this eco-mini-adventure was a lagoon tour for the "crocodillos" so super cool. David, our guide for the lagoon portion showed his passion for mangrove reforestation and ecology, amazing individual. Oh and the turtle part? hard not to get emotional about it when you see what this community is doing.

Amazing experience - especially for nature lovers - This experience was an absolute highlight of our trip in Huatulco- we had such an amazing time!
Our group consisted of 5 people total. Our guide was Fabian and he did an AMAZING job at educating us about the area, local wildlife, sea turtles, conservation efforts, etc. He exuded passion for the wildlife. I’m a huge supporter in conservation and personally involved in habitat/wildlife conservation back home with different orgs. Everything exercised on this tour was 100% humane and ethical.
We visited Laguna Ventanilla first to view and learn about the crocodiles. Trini (another guide at Laguna Ventanilla) educated us on the local flora/fauna. Not far from our boat, we witnessed crocs in the water waiting at the base of a tree full of nesting egrets and herons - essentially waiting for an opportune meal to fall into the water! You’ll also get a chance to see iguanas, deer, turtles, and even a spider monkey! The locals in the area were very friendly too.
Afterwards we went to Escobilla Sanctuary to release baby sea turtles. I’ll admit, it was a pretty emotional experience for me and honestly one I’ll never forget. I only ever saw baby sea turtles making their way to the ocean through nature programs on TV. I got to experience this in real life finally. Fabian was great with demonstrating the proper care/handling of the baby sea turtles and also answered every question we had.
Do yourself a favor and book a tour - the experience will be unforgettable.

Amazing Turtle and Crocodile Tour with Josue - Our tour guide Josue with Paraiso Hualtuco was absolutely amazing! My husband, 2 daughters and I had the best time! The turtle release was so exciting and heart warming, it was neat to see crocodiles, iguanas and we even saw humpback whales in the distance. Josue was a fantastic guide! He is kind, friendly, explained so much about the area and culture . He was patient with us when we wanted to spend more time with the turtles. When I wanted to feed stray dogs he had no problem with taking extra time for me.
This tour and Josue is fantastic and I would recommend it to everyone!

Roberto Marquez tour guide for Turtle Release - Huatulco - We spent a wonderful late afternoon and evening with the very knowledgeable Roberto Marquez! We saw areas outside of our resort and gained much knowledge about the sustainable elements of the Huatulco community. The experience with releasing the turtles was so very special. Roberto was also a very safe driver and the air-conditioned vehicle was a major bonus. Thank you Roberto!!!

A great experience! - This was a great experience, and we highly recommend it! However, we were not prepared for the investment of time. The hours posted were incorrect. Instead of 1:30 to 6:30, it ended up being 1:30 to 9:30. Participants visit both the sanctuary to see crocodiles, deer and birds, as well as release baby turtles at sunset. Nonetheless, it was a great day, and Abel--our guide--was amazing! He ended up having to translate for us because we were the only English-speaking participants that day, and we ended up not having a bilingual guide at the sanctuary either. He was very patient with us and made sure we understood everyting that was going on. He gave my husband a hat when he noticed that he was struggling with the sun and heat, and he took us by an ATM since we hadn't been able to get any pesos yet. My only concern--directed at the turtle release/sanctuary--was that during the turtle release, people were running out after the turtles were released in order to pick them up again and place them closer to the water. That wasn't too bad, except there were some children doing it and were very close to stepping on the baby turtles. It was quite stressful.

Great tour to see neat creatures - It's a great experience and worth venturing to see the turtles and other animals. The excluded fees have doubled since the time of this listing, so anticipate spending an extra 400 pesos per person for the two parts of the tour.
