The whole Bristol ladder in an enclosure - Legend has it that seven Mauritian tribes once vied for the recipe for the hottest chilli cake... One day they decided to meet near Chamarel and finally close the debate. After a long and painful day of tasting, came the moment of dejection... The valiant warriors gathered in a pretty little hilly terrain, crouching and suffering, to transform their turista into a tourist site. The most resistant gave birth to a black and hard soil, while the weakest gave the soil a reddish color by spreading their stool mixed with blood. Today, this place is an exceptional sanctuary for co-pro-tourism. I spent a wonderful afternoon there!

This is a location meriting the attention it gets on social media! - The entry ticket gets one a pass to see the Chamarel waterfall (from a distance, but a majestic sight), the geopark (a beautiful formation which look lovely when photographed as well), and a small tortoise park (where one can watch a couple of Aldabra giant tortoises feeding inside a fenced space). The souvenir shop, however, may be a tad overpriced. It should take about an hour (tops) to cover this destination, but it is well-worth the time. Additionally, one can also pay a flying visit to Ebony forest reserve, a few metres away from the geopark, and spend the rest of the day visiting Rhumerie de Chamarel (lunch at their restaurant is excellent; details in review of Rhumerie de Chamarel and L'Alchimiste) and Le Morne.

Chamarel Seven Coloured Earth Geopark is just one of them! - Chamarel Seven Coloured Earth Geopark is worth a visit, although Touri magnet. We were lucky that not too many visitors were there and were able to see this natural wonder. When dry, the colours come out better. From the parking lot it is only a few hundred meters, and you stand on a viewing platform and are amazed at the colors. You can walk along the natural wonder on a one way path and thus view the color scheme from different angles. Yes also here there are giant turtles, my favorite among the animals.

Amazing Views in Nature - Very nice area to walk around, it does not take long. The 7-colored earth is indeed beautiful and interesting to see, even though it was raining when we were there and the colors were not so intense! There is also a little shop there with nice mementoes.

Spectacular - Although we took a day with a lot of rain, it was one of the excursions that we enjoyed the most of our holidays in Mauritius. Surely the splendour, of the different colours of the earth, in full sun would have stood out much more. Highlight the giant tortoises! Without a doubt, your visit is highly recommended!

I expected much more for mass propaganda - They sell you the visit as one of the essentials of the island. A small area with colored dunes, the seven colors I did not appreciate, I want to think because of the inclination of sunlight. Chamarel waterfall is very beautiful, the highest on the island with 100 meters, but making the journey, paying a ticket that is not cheap for just this has seemed excessive.

Nice but expensive - The site is beautiful between the waterfall and the colors. But it is not worth the 11€ paid!!!! Especially since the forest ebony is paying extra and overpriced!!!

Far too expensive - Extremely expensive for 1 waterfall and colorful sand. The so-called visit is completed in 10 minutes. There is no justification for paying admission
