Each lesson includes a 10-15 minute land lesson on the basics of surfing and ocean safety. The rest of the lesson is spent in the water with your instructor. We are dedicated to providing surfing lessons to each student with a fun, safe and unforgettable surf experience. We adapt our style of teaching to the ability of each student. We will go that extra mile to make your surf experience the most memorable highlight of your vacation!

Embark on a surfing voyage that is fun, safe, and truly memorable! All the essentials for surfing are included in a single easy-to-follow lesson. This comprises a brief 10-15 minute on-land instruction about fundamental surfing and marine safety tips. The remaining time is spent in the water under the guidance of your surfing coach. We’re committed to delivering each student a distinctively enjoyable, safe, and memorable surfing tutorial. Our teaching methodology adapts to each student’s competency. We’ll indeed go beyond to ensure that your surfing journey becomes the most cherished part of your holiday!
- A minimum of 2 people per booking is required for “Semi-Private Lessons”

Departure Point: Maui Waveriders located across from Kalama Park, on Kihei Road. It is on the corner of Auhana and Kihei Road, next to the HiTech Surf Shop.

Directions: If you are on South Kihei Road coming from South Kihei/Wailea, turn right on Auhana Road. If you are on South Kihei Road coming from North Kihei, turn left onto Auhana Road.

Awesome! - We have a lot a fun. The instructor give us good tip. We all get up in the board easily. Go early, after 10 am to much people. We got free cap and you can pay for your photos during the lessons.

Family fun! - Surf lessons were terrific! Good instruction on the sand and then we could use that in the water. The instructor was in the water with us the whole time helping us find the right wave, giving instructions and cheering us on!

Excellent business, great instructors - I could not be happier with the experience we had with surf lessons! Al was excellent, easily balancing an eager 14 year old who was excited to surf but also nervous about having lessons and myself, a reluctant tag along. He was super calm, easy going and had an amazing ability to laugh and pump your tires without letting you feel stressed or in the spotlight with pressure to do well. My goal was just to get a feel for the board and maybe catch some waves on my knees, but Al had both of us up on our feet in no time! If you are surfing in Kihei this is an excellent experience, well worth the price for the lessons. Their rental prices are also great, so book this at the beginning of your trip if traveling with kids and then you can rent them boards to keep practicing on their own another day on the same beach if they love it.

Maui Waveriders is the best in Maui - Second time surfing with Maui Waveriders. They are the best! Instructors are so helpful and chill and the spot is super fun. Waves and slow rolling but big enough to still progress on.

Super Fun! - We did the semi private surf lesson and it was great! Kazuma did a wonderful job with instruction while keeping it super fun! Would highly recommend the semi private as it provides enough rest time while allowing for plenty of action. Great activity for the whole family! Definitely a highlight of the trip!!

Terrific first-time surfing experience at Maui Waveriders! - My 19 year old son and his girlfriend took surf lessons with Hobbes at Maui Waveriders this week and had a great time!
Registering and getting ready was a smooth process, Hobbes was super friendly & energetic and the location was very convenient.
Both were newbies and Hobbes had them successfully riding waves fairly consistently by the end of the lesson.
Highly recommend!

semi-private works perfect for two kids - Semi-private lesson worked great for my two kids. Parents could sit under the shade watching during the whole time. Kids learned very quick and had a wonderful time.

Great Time! - Had a great time with Maui Wave Riders! Our instructor Chez was great and we caught a good bunch of waves and collected a free hat on the way out. Highly recommend them for all your surfing needs in Maui.
