I would do it again!!! - We had an awesome ride! I sometimes get a little queasy going up a mtn in the backseat but Eric was a great driver and Matt kept us entertained along the way. Very little effort in the cycling with great guides and beautiful scenery. Since Eric was behind us in the car we never worried about someone coming up too close behind us. Our trip was in May and we could literally smell the flowers as we passed by. We left promptly on time and ended our ride with plenty of time left in the day to do other things. A couple of added bonuses were the small group of 5 didn’t make us feel like we had to rush or compete with others and the home made treats were delicious! Thank you for a great day!!!

Book the Tour!! - There are several bike companies to choose from in Maui for a Haleakalā tour. But Maui Bombers was the best choice for us for several reasons: one being they only guide groups up to 5 and their 8am start time is after all the crowds and traffic are gone. Having a small group is so much better than riding in a herd. And not worrying about traffic made the experience incredibly enjoyable and less stressful. The bikes are top-notch and well maintained. And the helmets were comfortable. Matt, our guide and owner, loves what he does and where he lives. His enthusiasm was contagious and created a fun and engaging tour. We opted for the 30 mile tour and are so glad we did! The route was downhill, super fun and paced perfectly for everyone in our group. Erik drove behind or ahead of us in their snazzy VW van to communicate traffic to Matt in the event we needed to yield. Their coordination was spot on. We never felt pressured by traffic and the timing of the tour ensured we had little traffic to contend with. Lunch provided at a local cafe was delicious!! For sure choose the burger or the fish sandwich!! All in all this tour is a 11/10! 10 stars!! Thank you Matt and Erik for the epic trip!

exactly what we were looking for! - We loved the self-guided tour with Matt. We chose this tour to avoid the early morning and big crowds, and it was a perfect way to enjoy the scenic ride in a relaxed, personalized atmosphere. Matt was an incredible host and we loved the homemade treats and sweet ride in the electric VW bus. We also enjoyed the time we had to walk around town and have lunch with Matt. Highly recommend! Bombing Maui in the Rain! - We met Matt and Eric in front of a closed, flooded Target on 3/23/26. Maui had been hammered by rain for two weeks with more expected during our ride. We soon found out that all the other riders had canceled and it would just be me and my wife! Offered the option to cancel, we immediately declined. Matt agreed to take us and continue as long as the roads remained safe. The four of us chatted during the ride up Haleakala to our starting point. We are experienced cyclists but Matt gave us a safety briefing anyway. Rain gear was also provided (and greatly appreciated). The bikes were solid Trek Marlins and we were also provided with MIPS helmets with flip up visors, a very nice touch! Matt definitely knows what he’s doing and I could tell he knows how to manage a group ride! The first part of the ride was great with only a misty rain and lightly wet roads. The segment was made up of some gentle turns and rolling road sections with a nice short hill climb toward the end to make sure you’re paying attention! We stuck mostly to the shoulder and inside lane for this part. After a quick break, it was time for some downhill fun! Eric followed in the chase car, staying in touch with Matt by radio. We rode center lane, cruising through many downhill switchbacks. The rain was increasing but Matt managed the pace very well, keeping us safe at all times. We then hopped in the car, were treated to delicious homemade coconut muffins, and made our way to Makawao. We were offered the opportunity to spend a bit of time in town but the rain was coming down hard and we wanted to keep riding. Matt agreed to continue as long as the roads remained safe. Again, we set out riding the shoulder / inside lane for a mile or so, after which we moved to center with Eric blocking from behind. If you’ve never bombed Maui in a hard rain, you don’t know what you’re missing! We finished this longest segment in Paia, cruising through more downhill switchbacks and ending completely drenched with huge smiles on our faces! The ride back to town wouldn’t have been complete without more amazing homemade treats, this time Passionfruit Bars! My wife and I will definitely ride with Matt again next time we’re in Maui! Maybe the sun will even come out and we’ll actually be able to see the far off landmarks Matt pointed out along the ride!

Amazing Maui Bike Ride - My family chose to do the bike ride with Maui Bombers and we had the best experience. We arrived in Maui in the midst of a major storm but that was no deterrent for us. Fortunately Matt, our guide was up for the task and took extra precautions to assure our safety and comfort. We had the most beautiful ride and a lovely day. He baked us treats and offed up history of the area. When all the other tours we were scheduled for canceled this week, Matt was happy to ‘brave the storm.’ The bikes he provided were of exceptional quality (I am picky) and he had a huge selection of helmets. (Now I want to purchase a bike just like these). We are very thankful for this amazing experience and highly recommend Maui Bombers. My daughter Sis, really enjoyed Matt and his humor as well as the ride.

Fantastic Bike Ride Down the Mountain - This bike ride was one of the best adventures we have done in a long time. The crew was just great with the super service they provided. They were super friendly and helpful and they always kept safety in mind. The bikes and helmets are a lot better than the other bike companies. The views that you see are awesome and the ride down is a whole lot of fun. The little extras that this company does is really nice. This is a no brainer of a trip to take with this tour company. I would do it again, and will highly recommend this company to others to take.

10/10 would recommend - We had an awesome time with Matt and Eric. They took great care of us! The bike ride was awesome, the treats were delicious and the company was delightful.

Total blast!!! - This experience was FABULOUS! I have done the big group tours before and this was a world apart! We received personalized attention, there was no big group to deal with, no long van ride picking up a bunch of other riders, no full face helmets that obstruct your view. Just a bunch of fun with guides who were super knowledgeable about the island and it's culture and history. We would do it again and again. Can't recommend it enough, as someone who has done both. It was a blast!

Awesome experience - I’ve biked Haleakala 2 times now and this one was far superior to the previous guys. This one is a much smaller company, and the owner is totally invested! He even provided us with homemade baked goods. We will for sure be back!
