Captain Cory for the Win! - We had an incredible self-guided tour with Cory today. He has been giving bike tours for 17+ years. His knowledge of the area, national park, local animals & vegetation made the drive incredibly interesting. He was efficient, thorough & very patient. His wealth of experience prevented a lot of possible complications. My teenagers got a kick out of all his jokes. The tour ran smoothly. Their website, registration & waiver signing was so efficient. The expectations & preparation were clearly defined. We would highly recommend dressing in layers. We went from wearing sweatpants to shorts, coats & hats to tank tops. Bring snacks to eat along the way. If you wait til the end, you’ll be starving! Great your!

Bike lover - Love love love it! Plan for cold weather at the top, great guide EddieBuddy.com. Clear instructions and guidance. He took pictures of us, had tons of knowledge of the area and was very friendly with all of his dad jokes. Cons- the turns do make you a little motion sick on the way up, and once there the altitude does not help. Once on the bike going down you feel better. Pros- the second time on the bike is up to you, stop in Makawao and shop and have breakfast or not and go back to the shop.

Great Tour, just dress warmer - It was a great tour except most of us didn't dress warm enough. At the top of the mountain where the sun rises, the temperature was in the 30's. Next time I will dress warmer.

Beautiful Sunrise and Fun Bike Ride - We had a great time on our guided bike trip. Eddiebuddy kept us entertained on our trip up the mountain. Very lucky to see an amazing sunrise. The bike ride down was a lot of fun. I was a bit nervous at first because of the safety talk about the touchy breaks but once we got going it was very similar to my bike at home. It was so nice having the van behind us. Would highly recommend to anyone comfortable on a bike.

A Breathtaking Sunrise and an Unforgettable Bike Tour - Our day began in the stillness of the early morning, gathering at the meeting point at 4:00 AM. By 6:10 AM, we had reached the mountain top, just in time to witness one of the most magical sunrises of our lives. As we waited for the sun to rise at 6:48 AM, the sky transformed before our eyes — from deep black to soft pinks, fiery reds, and finally, the brilliance of golden sunshine spilling over the horizon. The view was absolutely majestic, surrounded by the tranquility of nature. Words truly fall short of describing the peace and beauty of that moment; it’s something that must be experienced to be fully understood. After soaking in the sunrise, we embarked on an unguided bike tour that added an adventurous twist to our morning. The tour was divided into two parts: a thrilling descent down the mountain and a serene, mostly flat ride that gave us time to take in the surrounding scenery. Along the way, we stopped in a charming small-town spot for breakfast at Freshies. The food was as delightful as the cozy ambiance of the place — a perfect mid-morning break. With plenty of time on our hands, we strolled around on our bikes, exploring until 1:00 PM before returning them by 2:00 PM. The freedom of an unguided tour allowed us to soak in the experience at our own pace, making it all the more special. This was more than just an activity — it was a day filled with unforgettable moments and breathtaking sights. It’s an experience that words can only attempt to describe, but one that truly has to be lived to be appreciated. Highly recommended! Note: It was extremely cold on the mountain top, layers of clothing, covered ears and gloves are recommended.

Guides matter - awesome experience! - The tour guide Eddiebuddy was exceptional. He has a real talent for storytelling and his tour commentary alone was worth our time. Even on the self guided tour we spent a lot of time together on the bus up to the peak, down to the bikes and at midway pickup. The self guided part was the lower half for us and we had fun exploring Makawao and local roads. Of course the scenery and pics were great!

Great experience but didn’t love the guide - This was a really cool experience. The self guided tour should be more self guided. I understand that there are limitations of where you can bike but the point of self guided is that you want to get out and do your own thing and not listen to a tour. Our guide wanted to be a tour guide and earn his tip sharing everything he knew which isn’t what we signed up for as a self guided tour. The sunrise was amazing and the bike ride was awesome. Make sure you eat a good breakfast before because you may not be able to find anything for hours even though it sounds like you will be able to get breakfast at your leisure. We were starving by the time we could get food.
