Great surf lessons! - We signed up a 16 and two 13 year olds. Each had done 1 prior surf lesson so all very inexperienced. We got Matt as our instructor. He was awesome! The kids loved the experience and working with Matt. Would definitely recommend this experience if learning to surf.

Must do in Maui! - Conan and Reed were awesome! Our girls were 12&14 and this was so fun for them. Great instruction and support in the water!! Highly recommend!

Great instructors! - Our instructors were easy to talk to and gave great instruction! Our 2 boys both got up and surfed and even did a couple of little tricks! The 2 of us adults that were surfing were both able to get up and surf as well. Would highly recommend this company to all that want to surf!

Best instructors & easy waves to learn on! - The instructors were the best! Nick and KDog aka Sensei were so patient and kind. They made sure we knew what to do but also encouraged us when we’d fall off the board. They also had great senses of humor and kept us entertained! If we were here a few more days we’d have booked a second lesson with them. We’re not expert surfers yet but we actually want to continue to learn and take it up as a hobby! We booked the group lesson yet still had so much 1 on 1 time with each instructor. I highly suggest this for families couples or solo adventurers.

First time surfing - We had a great time learning to surf for the first time. The instructor was very friendly, helpful and easy to follow. He made it really fun. I highly recommend it.

Good lesson to start surfing - Always wanted to surf and was on a solo trip in Maui. Finally got the courage to try at the ripe age of 38 and the experience probably changed my life. The teachers at ISA are very professional and give compact and precise instructions, nothing extra but everything you need to know when you start. I got along with them really well and they were fun to be around. I’m an athletic person and I’m used to listening to instructions carefully so I felt like I got the hang of it pretty fast and felt very safe the whole time. The waves were perfect for a beginner but still enough to practice the basic moves. It was pretty challenging to find the meeting spot at the Kaanapali Beach because there were so many other surf schools at the same time, but just look for the color of rashguards they tell you they are wearing and come early! The lesson took actually about 1h 15mins but to be fair, I was so sore the next day that it’s not a good idea to surf for hours when you’re not used to it just yet. The only down side of this experience is the price (90$) which is quite high. I’d like to have maybe another lesson before going alone because I’m not familiar with the waters in Maui, but I’m afraid I cannot afford it. :/ But everything in Maui is pricey, so I guess it is what it is. All in all, this is a good experience for anyone who wants to find out if surfing is for them. They provide all the equipment and tips, and as a solo traveller, it’s always safer to join groups first when you try something new. I’m afraid I have been bitten by the surf bug now, and there might be no turning back. Be careful guys ;) And stay loose!

Awful - Worst surf school in Maui. The surf instructor , nick, only cared about how many people he could fit into a class , not about safety. He is greedy and my child almost got hurt because he was rushing. It wasn’t worth my time or money . I would give this surf school negative stars if I could . The old owner was better when we went last year.
