- Matera - The journey begins with a visit to Matera from your accommodation, where the city’s rich history and breathtaking landscapes await exploration. Stories will be shared about Matera’s evolution and its remarkable transformation from a symbol of poverty to a UNESCO World Heritage site. The tour starts in the ancient Sassi districts, guiding you through a maze of cave dwellings and alleys. Discover how these caves served as homes, churches, and monasteries, offering a glimpse into the lives of people over thousands of years. To gain a deeper understanding of life in the Sassi, a visit to a “Casa Grotta,” a restored cave home furnished as it was centuries ago, is included. After some free time, the journey continues to Alberobello.
- Alberobello - Upon arrival in Alberobello, the tour begins with a visit to this remarkable town, renowned for its iconic Trulli houses. Two fascinating districts, Aia Piccola and Rione Monti, will be explored. Aia Piccola is a quieter area with fewer tourists, where some Trulli are still used as private homes. Rione Monti, although more touristy, features picturesque and decorated streets lined with hundreds of Trulli, the town’s signature whitewashed, conical-roofed dwellings. A visit to a trullo house will provide insight into its construction and how people lived within. Additionally, the unique church dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua, built in trullo style, will be visited, blending seamlessly with the surrounding architecture. After some free time to enjoy the area independently, the tour concludes with a return to your accommodation.
