Great experience - Very nice... well maintained place... very knowledgeable staff to give information. The top is the video of the explanation in materano! It's beautiful.

Christ really stopped at Eboli... - To visit Matera, it is necessary to immerse yourself in the past. You have to realize in what conditions the inhabitants lived: caves or Ipogeo. Read, by Carlo Levi: "Christ stopped at Eboli..."

Interesting and informative; - Comfortable and instructive audio guide; very interesting quick trip to the basement. Really nice staff: a couple of friends joined at the last minute and came to meet us. Glad I went there

To learn firsthand a piece of history of Matera - Unlike other tourist attractions in Matera, this "Hypogeum Matera Sum" is not a very visited place and yet it is worth seeing. As you walk through its narrow passageways and wider rooms, you can learn about the old way of life of its inhabitants. The lighting is poor and you have to be careful when going up and down the steps.

INTERESTING - Beautiful place perfectly preserved and revalued, open to the public with the purchase of an entrance ticket.

Materasum - My partner and I visited Matera underground with a guide.
A really interesting place to discover.
We were greeted by Mrs. Antonella, very kind since it took away many curiosities.

I do not recommend - The visit to the Hypogeum Materasum could have been very interesting, because the site is undoubtedly fascinating and full of potential.
Unfortunately, our experience was conditioned by several organizational problems. We had booked and paid for the ticket online (8 euros per person) and, once we arrived, the wifi did not work, so it was not possible to use the audio guide. The girl at the reception was however very kind and helpful, offering to find alternative solutions to provide us with audio, which we enjoyed.
However, during the visit, the presence of two families with children running and screaming continuously made it virtually impossible to follow the route and listen to the contents. Unfortunately, despite the unsuitable behavior, no intervention was made to restore order, and this significantly compromised the experience.
Overall, the site certainly deserves for its beauty, but the organization and management of respect for the spaces could be improved, especially considering the cost of the ticket.

Experience not to be repeated - Experience not to be done at all. Poorly managed and poorly organized situation. You go down a flight of stairs, the staff is unfriendly and the route despite the audio guide activated at the entrance, is not very clear. In Matera there is much better to do especially during the Christmas holidays.

Instead, drink a good spritz on the terrace for the same price! - Do not go there.
You will be greeted by a girl who will not look at you, who will show you the direction to take and who will blow her eyes up when you come back to tell her that there is no light in the rooms and that the video is not projected.
Zero friendliness.
Then, for the interest of the place: zero also pointed.
An iPhone audio guide with 5 unfortunate explanations and a tour that lasts 20 minutes instead of the promised 1h30.
With this money, head out for a spritz on the terrace (and zero pointed also to TripAdvisor/Viator) that didn’t want to hear anything following our complaint about this scam tour.
