- Sassi di Matera - The term “Sassi” refers to the historic part of Matera, which is divided into three main areas: the Sasso Barisano to the northwest, the Sasso Caveoso to the south, and the Civita in the center, which separates them.
- Cattedrale di Matera - The Cathedral of Maria Santissima della Bruna and Sant’Eustachio, also known as the Duomo of Matera, was completed in 1270. It stands on the Civita, the highest point of the city, where the first settlement of the Sassi began. This area was once home to a Benedictine monastery dedicated to Sant’Eustachio, consecrated in 1082.
- Casa Noha - Casa Noha is located in the Civita district, a natural rock formation that separates the Sasso Caveoso and Sasso Barisano districts. This building, dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries, was once the residence of the noble de Noha family.
- Church of Santa Maria de Idris - Situated in the middle of the Sasso Caveoso, specifically on the rocky promontory of Monterrone, this church is partially carved into the rock and partially constructed after the vault collapsed before the 16th century.
- Chiesa Di San Pietro Caveoso - This church is located in the heart of the Sassi, right in the Sasso Caveoso. The baroque façade features three niches, each housing a statue: St. Paul on the right, St. Peter on the left, and the Madonna della Misericordia in the center.
- Chiesa del Purgatorio - The Church of Purgatory, built in the Baroque style, is dedicated to the deceased and explores themes of death and the redemption of souls.
