Marrakech-Merzouga-Fez - Enjoyable trip, camel ride and sunset over the dunes the highlight. Comfortable vehicle. Salim, our guide, very friendly. If going through to Fez rather than returning to Marrakech confirm that guide is aware early in the trip to ensure Fez transfer from Merzouga is organised . Alot of driving time but Morroco is a big country so to be expected. Great way to see the many different aspects and terrains of the Moroccan landscape. Adequate stops along the way to stretch the legs.

Excellent value for money - The tour is quite challenging because of the distances, but there are many stops. The main experience is of course the desert camel, and it lives up to expectations. But also beautiful intermediate stages, especially the casbah of Ait Ben Haddou, unforgettable. The hotel on the first night wasn't much but the desert tent, luxury version, was fantastic. Visits to carpet and scarf shops are also planned, but they are not too annoying.

Experience of a life time - This trip was more than I expected and I took alot more from it than I thought that I would. In the end this was more than a Sahara tour for me. It was a cross section experience of Morocco's beauty and an understanding of what the people of Morocco are. Our guide Ahmed and driver Amir brought us to some incredibly beautiful places. Leaving out of Marakech we passed over the High Atlas mountain range, a geologists paradise. We can really get a sense of the power and energy in tectonic activity that formed this incredibly beautiful mountain range. Stopping along the way at view points you can see the stalls packed with fossils and fascinating rock formations which tell the real story of the geological history of this region. Pity fossils add heavily to baggage weight. Another highlight for me was Aït Benhaddou. For the movie fans this has been a film location for some very well known movies such as Gladiator, Indian Jones, Laurence of Arabia to mention a couple. Personally I love movies but I feel to much emphasis is put on the fact that these beautiful locations around the world are connected to movies as apposed to been enjoyed for what they are. Aït Benhaddou is astonishing in its construction, maintenance and the idea of living life in a community there. Our guide was very nice and polite and what's more importantly proud of his family roots there. We spent one night in Dadès Valley and surrounding area, including the famous Monkey's Fingers slot canyon at Tamlalt. The accommodation was very comfortable and the food filled a hungry belly. The location was stunning at night with an incredibly clear starry night. I found myself relaxing with our guide and some locals in the evening. I am a solo traveller and I find the morrocan people so welcoming. I enjoyed having a bit of a laugh with them. The next day we continued for another long day of driving. There were stops along the way for bathroom and food breaks. As there had been the previous day. We arrived at the edge of Merzouga at about 1700 and immediately met our guide and camel driver. We were to be a small caravan of 17 camels. There were plenty of other companies operating in this area. Both with camels, quad bikes, and 4x4. It was definitely a popular location. Our baggage was Brought ahead of us to camp and we wandered off into the sand dunes. The experience was amazing and one that I will never forget. We stopped of near a dune that gave us a great view to the west as we watched the sun go down. This part of the Sahara is a small area where you can see all the way to where the dunes stop and reach flat land. Merzouga is right along the edge. Keep this in mind as I overheard several people say they expected to feel a little more remote. Personally I had hoped for the same but I looked on Google Earth before booking and I had a good Idea of what I was getting. I loved the experience. To be realistic, you are never going to get the Lawrence of Arabia experience unless you train for it and spend a considerable amount of time and money planning this as an expedition. The Merzouga desert offers a glimpse of what the beautiful Sahara can offer. The colour, light and shade, the curves of the sharp edge dunes to a soft rounded slope. It was beautiful as you glide across its surface on your ship of the desert. We joined the other groups in our camp where we ate from a buffet, so much good food. After dinner we were entertained by such talented local musicians. One of my favourite experiences of Morocco was staying up later and sitting out under the stars in the Sahara and jamming djembe with the musicians. They were so polite and welcoming. It was so much fun with the music been a universal language. The next morning we had a full breakfast and rode the camels back across the dunes to watch the sunrise. What an amazing way to start our day. We began the long drive to Fes. We stopped briefly to see the Barbary macaque. Personally I did not enjoy this experience so much. The monkeys are incredible creatures, but the locals bring the food the food brings the monkeys, the monkeys bring the tourists who also buy more food from the locals and the end result, the tourists bring more moneyy. Yes, they aren't harmed in anyway from what I could see and a dalm site better than Marakech. But it still interferes in their natural behaviour. We arrived in fes at about 1800. Summary: I highly recommend this trip with somethings to bare in mind if you have read any of the negative reviews and if you are from western society standards, maybe not used to travelling in a country with a struggling economy, not prepared to open yourself up (with your guard up to a certain degree of course) to absorbing everything you can to help develop your understanding of a beautiful new country with the traditions, cultures, vibrance and struggles that come with it. Then not only is this not for you but I recommend you stay home. You will learn alot along the way on this trip. Look at everything in the background too. Think about the people and how they have lived and continue to live. Absorb all that you can. The guides are professional kind and very passionate about their motherland. They love what they do. I had previously had a very negative encounter in Marakech. Just one out of many positive encounters so I was a little apprehensive at the start of this trip. After experiencing the adventure the best advice that I can give to you is sit back and enjoy the ride. Thanks Ahmed and amir

Good value hits the spots - Driver was Selim who was awesome. Only 6 people for the first two days which made the tour feel a lot more personal/less touristy. Make sure that they know where you're going on the third day though because they almost sent us back to Marrakesh instead of Fes.

Amazing experience, Saleem was a great host - We booked a group tour but ended up in a small of just us 4 and another person. Saleem was a great guide and driver who was very kind and did his best to accommodate our request for stopovers and food. All accomodation and food was great, the Sahara experience was amazing and we had a great time overall. Highly recommended.

With few exceptions, an amazing trip. No Spanish, don't insist. - No Spanish, hopefully some English. The tour is quite good, all very well organized. Meals at bad, expensive stops. Guide in Ait Ben Haddou unfriendly and wants you to buy only in the stores that he takes you (all 5 times more expensive), otherwise it makes you walk fast and you waste time in stores that you do not want to see, plus it makes a lot of pressure to buy. Desert journey to messy fez (rest of the group goes to Marrakech), we waited more than 2 hours to start the journey to fez (in the middle of desert), we were taken to the worst restaurant in the world (4 people refused to eat there, because of the quality and poor care). The rest very well organized and very good accommodation. All the tours are similar, the differences are minimal really since the accommodation in the desert is from the same community, only difference is made by the type of room, in our individual case with private bathroom, which was first level. We ratify the other comments, they are not guides they are drivers, hopefully they tell you the next stop and the time you will be, but it does not detract from the charm of the trip. The agency communicated every day to learn of any problems, which is appreciated.

Impressive experience with smears - Everything was very well organized. But more information about the process would have been helpful. Unfortunately, our driver to Merzouga did not speak English or French, which made communication difficult, yet he was very nice and strenuous....The journey on to Fes by taxi was very exhausting, this driver did not even try to communicate and drove mildly put “very sporty”. He stopped for dinner once, otherwise there were no more breaks or sightseeing!!!

Improve the transport for the journey to Fez. Stop forcing tourists to eat at lousy restaurants for lunch! Shameful - Hardship tour, especially the last day going to Fes. We were combined with other guests in a cramped small bus and forced to eat lunch at a super lousy restaurant for 100 MAD each. Bus has no ventilation. I was coughing very badly and feeling miserable from 8 am to now 6:40 pm and still we haven't arrived at my Fez hotel. Toilet breaks were not very frequent also. There was too much waiting in the morning for the other guests hence all the delays. If you want to combine the guests, at least get a bigger bus. The seats are so small that the woman beside me is literally sitting on my thigh.

Must see destinations of Morocco with some bumps along the way - This trip takes you to the beautiful countryside and the desert of Morocco but it was with a couple of bumps along the way. Day 1: when buying the trip you can choose which language it should be in. We got picked up by our English speaking driver (as chosen) but since the group was not full he drove us to a meeting spot of many drivers and divided our van amongst other tour vans. We ended up in a van with a French speaking driver who knew very little English which meant that a lot of times we did not know for how long we are stoping at a particular destination and did not receive much explanations during the way. Visiting Ait Ben Haddou was beautiful and at the drop off point you meet with a local guide that gives you lots of informations about the place. However he demands a 30 dirrhams payment (website states 20) and also guides you to a very expensive restaurant with 12 eur for lunch. When some of our members decided to eat elsewhere he was dissatisfied stating that now he won't guide us through everything planned for the day. This part was a bad experience. After you get dropped at a booked Riad which for us was a very cold hotel with mediocre dinner (e.g. overcooked spaghetti with almost no sauce). Since we booked a "luxury" accomodation this felt subpar. Day 2: breakfast in the above mentioned place was ok. We then drove to Todgha Gorge and a nearby village where a great local guide showed us around. We got to see carpet making process which was nice. We were extremely satisfied with our local guide for day 2 which was friendly, informative and also spoke multiple languages. You continue with driving towards the desert. In the way we got dropped for lunch in a place that was again very expensive and also in the middle of nowhere so you cant really choose to eat any place else. Another turist trap which was frustrating. When you get to the desert, you ride the camels in and out of the camp and stay at their luxury camp in the desert. In the evening there is a party with live Bedouin music near the fire. We loved everything about this experience. One minus was that the beds in the tents collect loads of static electricity which shocked us a couple of times when trying to go to sleep but this could be solved with using blankets as an insulation. Day 3: you get up early and ride the camels back to your transportation. Here we switched the driver and the new one spoke English a lot better and gave us more information along the way. The last day you drive around 8 hours to Fes which can be very exhausting. Again we were dropped at expensive places for lunch with no other options around however compared do Day 2 the food here was much better. Along the way you stop to see a forest where you can feed monkeys that live there. After that you get dropped near your Riad in Fes. Overall you get to see some of the must see places in Morocco and it is a great option if you do not want to rent a car. However there were a couple of things that bothered us with this trip and could be improved upon (getting an English speaking driver guide as agreed when buying the trip, better accomodation on Day 1 (especially since you buy a luxury option), not getting dropped off in the tourist trap restaurants).

Horrible experience - It was a horrible experience with the transportation they provided to us from the desert to Fes. They sent us a taxi, which was very old and uncomfortable. It was ripped in some parts, and with NO AC (they offered an air conditioned van) The driver picked up some more local people. It was supposed to be a private transportation not a public transportation. He was driving so carelessly and looking at his phone all the time. We were so scared that we were going to get in an accident. He also stopped several times to buy his own groceries, the car smelled like onions. The tour that I paid for said that they were to leave us as close as possible to my hotel/riad. The driver left us at the entrance of the Medina and said that cars can’t come any closer. We had to walk with all our luggage for more than 25 mins, only to see that there was a street less than 1 min away from the riad. I wrote to the tour operator to explain the situation and they didn’t even apologized. This was the most horrible experience that I have lived. Do not book with this operator if you don’t want to live nightmare.
