Tizi n Tichka - Known in English as “The Pass of Tichka,” this is the highest mountain pass in Morocco, located in the High Atlas Mountain range at an altitude of 2,260 meters (7,414 feet). It offers breathtaking views of the northern landscape with its Berber villages. A stop here is planned to capture panoramic photos.
Ait Ben Haddou - This Berber citadel, also known as Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, is a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987, preserving its original state. It has been a filming location for many popular American movies, including The Gladiator, Asterix Obelix, Star Wars, Game of Thrones, The Jewel of the Nile, and The Last Temptation of Christ. A lunch stop and guided tour of the Kasbah are scheduled.
Vallee Des Roses - The journey continues through the charming city known for its roses and Berber daggers. An optional stop is available for those interested in purchasing rosewater or other rose-based cosmetics.
Boumalne Dades - The first overnight stop is here before heading to the Sahara Desert the next day. Situated at the edge of a desert plateau, Boumalne Dades is over 1,500 meters high and has a history of transhumance, once controlled by various tribes. The residents, like those in the Dades Valley, are primarily Berber.
Dades Valley - Boumalne – Tinghir – Todra Gorges – Rissani – Merzouga
Boumalne Dades - After breakfast at the Riad/Hotel, the journey continues through the picturesque city of Boumalne Dades, with a scheduled stop for panoramic photos to admire the valley.
Tinghir - Heading towards Merzouga, the route passes through Tinghir, known as the city of a thousand Kasbahs, leading to the famous Todra Gorges.
Gargantas del Todra - These renowned Moroccan canyons, with an altitude of about 300 meters (984 feet), offer a chance for a walk and photo opportunities. Visitors might see mountaineers in action. An optional lunch is planned before continuing past Alnif and Rissani.
Merzouga Desert - The journey culminates at the stunning sandy dunes of Merzouga Erg Chebbi Sahara Desert, featuring a camel ride, dinner, music, and an overnight stay under the stars.
Merzouga – Rissani – Alnif – Agdz – Ouarzazate
Rissani - Just 30 minutes from Merzouga, Rissani, a former major caravan center, offers an optional stop to visit the Berber Market or explore mineral fossil exhibitions and workshops. These fossils date back to the Paleozoic era, when southeast Morocco was underwater. Fresh camel’s milk is available for those interested.
Agdz - Located about 65 kilometers south of Ouarzazate, Agdz, meaning “resting place” in Berber, was a key point on the caravan route between Marrakech and Timbuktu. It is renowned for its vast palm oasis.
Ouarzazate - Known as the gateway to the Sahara, Ouarzazate means “without noise” in Berber. It has been a filming location for many famous movies, such as Gladiator, Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Kingdom of Heaven, and The Mummy series, thanks to its location and cinema studios. The next day includes a visit to the Taourirt Kasbah, one of the country’s most beautiful.
Ouarzazate - Telouat - Tizi N’tichka - Marrakech
Taourirt Kasbah - After a delightful breakfast at the Riad/Hotel, a guided tour of the Taourirt Kasbah, a historic Berber maze, is planned. Originally built in the 17th century by the Imzwarn family, it was later expanded by the Glaoui family in the 19th century.
Atlas Studios - An optional visit to the Atlas Corporation Studios is available. As the first film studio in North Africa, it spans 20 hectares and offers comprehensive production services, including sets, offices, workshops, and accommodations.
