- Jardin Majorelle - The Majorelle Garden was initially established by the French artist Jacques Majorelle in 1923. He constructed a villa for himself and expanded his estate by acquiring additional parcels of land, which he filled with his extensive botanical collection from around the globe. After Majorelle’s passing, the garden fell into neglect until it was rediscovered by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, who restored the house and enhanced the botanical garden, returning them to their former splendor. The villa studio now houses a Berber Culture Museum, showcasing the finest of YSL’s personal collection of Berber artifacts, including authentic handmade silver jewelry, antique ceramics, rugs, and other artworks.
- Koutoubia Mosque - The Koutoubia Minaret is Marrakech’s most iconic landmark. It is part of the Koutoubia Mosque, constructed in the late 12th century. Although not particularly tall, it dominates the Medina of Marrakech due to a longstanding law that prohibits any other buildings in the city from exceeding the height of the Koutoubia.
- Mellah - The Mellah of Marrakech was established by decree of Sultan Abdallah al-Ghalib of the Saadian dynasty in 1558, outside the walls of El Badi Palace. During the 16th and 17th centuries, the Mellah was one of the main commercial areas of Marrakech’s old Medina. It was historically inhabited by Jews who were expelled from the Iberian Peninsula following the Reconquista.
- Bahia Palace - The Bahía Palace, a late 19th-century palace, is renowned for its exquisite decoration. Its walls are adorned with stucco carved with beautiful Arabic calligraphy, geometric patterns, and arabesque designs. The ceilings are intricately decorated with carved cedar wood from the Middle Atlas Mountains. The floors are designed and adorned with handmade tiles known as Zellij, featuring beautiful colors derived from natural resources like minerals and plants.
- Medina of Marrakesh - Visit a communal oven (bakery), a Farnachi (part of the Moroccan hammam), a local market for fruits and vegetables, and an olive market.
- Souk Haddadine - Discover the most authentic blacksmith workshops and enjoy unique panoramic photos.
- Jemaa el-Fnaa - Visit the famous Jamaa El Fna square. Enjoy walking and learning about the secrets and history of this traditional caravan meeting point.
- Souk Semmarine - At the heart of Marrakech, filling the alleys north of the central square, are the souks, mile after constricted mile of tiny, closet-sized emporia. The sheer number of shops is overwhelming, with 100 of them in 100 yards. Every section of the souks has its specialty, with alleys dedicated to everything from spices and ironwork to the ingredients necessary for casting magic spells.
