An Amazing Trip Towards the Merzouga - Amazing package with lots of different experiences along the way. Especially memorable was the view from the Atlas Mountains, walking through the farmlands in the Tinghir Oasis and the Todgha Oasis, the camel ride through the sands of the Sahara and seeing the sunset from the desert. Shout out to our guide, Youssef, who made the entire trip especially enjoyable with his fun interactions, tidbits of interesting knowledge and excellent photo taking skills. He was really a true representative of Moroccan hospitality.

Unforgettable experience! Highly recommended!!! - Only congratulations to our guide Mohammed and all the staff who followed us in these 3 unforgettable days. Exceptional organization, comfortable journey with wonderful stops to the desert, which leaves you breathless. Travel really super recommended. Unlike other organized tours, this only admits 8 participants, which makes everything more comfortable and precise. Try also the extra quad bikes in the desert at dawn, breathtaking landscapes and super fun. Everything really perfect, highly recommended! And Mohammed amazing character!!

The Best Guide for the Best Trip - I could not have asked for a better guide than Khalid Oubram. Aside from his knowledge of every aspect of our trip, he had been incredibly kind and outgoing to each member of our group and had been an instrumental part in our great experience. I could not recommend this trip with him more.

Consider carefully if this is a tour for you - This experience is extremely toruristic. You are driving the same way as everybody else, eating at expensive restaurants that make bad-medium food and that you cannot choose yourself. The hotel and the sahara was basic but okay. However, we had to ask for clean bedsheats both places. The food is not great but you will not go hungry to bed. Bring snacks and water so you do not have to pay overprice. We tought that it was a guided tour, but even after the tour is over, we do not now why our “guide”, Chaimae, was even in the car. We received a minimum of informations. Mostly it was just “be back in 15 minutes”. Nothing about the itinerary, culture, history or anything else. It was a non-existing guide. It also seemed like she was unaware the some had booked the luxury option, that some had booked an extra night in the desert and that some were going to Fez. Also she seemed like she was having the flu during the complete trip. We told her that we would like some more information but did not recieve it. However, she asked us on the last day to leave a good review. The driver was good. The car was okay, but if you are taller than 180cm it is going to be a very Long drive. Generally it is alot of driving. Most of the time is spent in the car. We arived at the desert at approximately 16:30, spend 1 hour on the camels to the tent and then waited for 30 minutes to get our tent. So we had 1,5 hours before it was Dark and the we left the next morning at 05:40 for a 9 hour (excluding breaks) back to Marrakech. At first we were in a car full of sick people and we asked to change to another bud at the fist stop. They made this possible, for which we are very grateful. The best part of the trip was all the amazing people from all over the world with whom we travelled. That was really pure joy and happiness. We learned that we all paid quite different for the tour. You should not pay more than 100-110 EUR per person (budget option). And the only reason to choose the luxury one is to have your own toilet and shower in the dessert. It is possible to get a private tour for app. 650 EUR and if you can afford that we belive that is the best option. After three days of traveling we had a great time because of the group, and it was fun to be in the Sahara, but it too is touristic, too long a drive and too bad a guide.

Tourist scam tour - but nice to go to Sahara. Read for detailed review. - First of all Yassine was a great driver and nice but the trip itself is really mainly a tourist scam and looking back, I don’t think my husband and I have ever received so much disrespect anywhere. It’s nice to get to the Sahara but beware that everything else is fake and designed to scam tourists out of as much money as possible. We were told that drivers get a cut from what is sold to tourists on these trips. ARAGAN OIL SCAM: after the trip we were told by locals that the so called women’s cooperatives are just set up to make money for men and scam tourists. The argan oil you can buy is most likely either bad argan oil or not even argan oil at all. If you want to buy some, we’d recommend buying it from a proper shop in a proper city. CARPET SCAM: Well. Baby camel carpets are a scam. They don’t exist. Really check the quality of what you’re buying. They will tell you that you don’t get it cheaper in a Souk but you absolutely do. In the mountains they will try and charge you thousands of Dirham for a carpet when in reality you shouldn’t be paying more than about MAD 100 for a small one (and that’s an inflated tourist price). Don’t go for anything camel related. It’s a scam. They will really make you feel guilty and you will feel like you want to help these poor women etc. but it’s all just a show. They offered us a tiny synthetic carpet for MAD2500 claiming it was baby camel fur used to make the wool and we then bought it for MAD1000 - knowing that this was overpaying but not knowing how insanely much we were overpaying. So we’re posting this here so other people do not make this mistake. TIPPING GUIDANCE SCAM: We asked our driver what to tip a local guide for a brief 30 min tour and he suggested MAD200. That’s €20 for a tour guide who spoke no English and just walked us to a site on a mountain. We’d highly suggest you google what an appropriate tip is for this country before going. FOOD SCAM: All the restaurants on this tour are pretty terrible food at very expensive prices. They charge western prices and the quality of food is terrible. Both my husband and I ended up with food poisoning. Moroccan food is famous worldwide but on this trip they unfortunately only bring you to tourist traps with very poor food. Very disappointing. THE TOUR COMPANY: the tour company tried to make us stay in a cheaper hotel last minute and then weren’t responsive for the rest of the day. We had only received the information the day before our trip was about to start when we were on the flight. We asked to cancel the trip if they could not give us the hotel originally agreed. In the end we managed to WhatsApp Maryam who confirmed our trip would be as agreed and we agreed we would go ahead. Then half way through the trip the company suggested we wanted to cancel the trip which was really worrying as we were in the middle of Morocco in the middle of nowhere. Luckily our driver asked for confirmation first. So overall, if you book this trip you have to be aware that it is designed to rinse you as much as possible. We would suggest to buy nothing and also remember you can negotiate everything. Drivers and tour guides that seem nice and trustworthy are potentially not trustworthy as the whole thing is designed to make money for them. It’s sad when kindness, trust and generosity gets so abused and it’s left a very sour feeling for us about Morocco generally (Riads we stayed in also conveniently miscalculated costs in their favour).
