Sailing the Turquoise Waters: A Day on Malta’s Northern Coastline
When the opportunity to explore Malta’s northern coastline on a Turkish gullet presented itself, I couldn’t resist. With promises of stunning views, crystal-clear waters, and a touch of adventure, I was eager to set sail and see what this magical trip had in store.
Setting Sail on the Turkish Gullet
The moment I stepped aboard the Turkish gullet, I knew I was in for a treat. The sun was already casting its golden glow over the Sliema Promenade as we prepared to set sail along Malta’s northern coastline. The boat, Fenandes, was bustling with eager adventurers, and I quickly realized that arriving early is key if you want to snag one of those coveted sun mats at the front. But no worries, the seating around the edge offered a perfect vantage point to soak in the views.
As we departed, the skipper’s voice crackled over the PA, welcoming us and laying out the day’s itinerary. With around 60-70 fellow travelers, the atmosphere was lively yet relaxed, just the way I like it. The crew wasted no time in making us feel at home, handing out cheese and ham rolls to keep our energy up for the journey ahead. With a free-flowing bar offering beer and soft drinks, I settled into the rhythm of the sea, ready for whatever adventures lay ahead.
Discovering the Blue Lagoon
Our first stop was the iconic Blue Lagoon on Comino, a place that had been on my bucket list for ages. As we approached, the turquoise waters shimmered invitingly, and I couldn’t resist diving in for a swim. The lagoon was busy, but its beauty was undeniable—a true paradise for anyone with a love for the ocean.
For those seeking a bit more thrill, there was an optional speedboat ride that promised a quick dash through the caves. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity, and for 15 Euros, it was a blast. The speedboat zipped us around, offering a different perspective of the stunning coastline. Back on the gullet, lunch was served, and it was a feast! With plenty of food to go around, I even went back for seconds, savoring every bite as we continued our journey.
Anchoring at Gozo
After leaving the Blue Lagoon, we cruised towards the island of Gozo, anchoring in a secluded bay that felt like a hidden gem. The water was crystal clear, perfect for another swim or simply lounging on deck with a chilled drink in hand. The crew was attentive, ensuring everyone was comfortable and well-fed with afternoon snacks of rolls and fresh fruit.
As the day wound down, we sailed back towards the port, the sun beginning its descent, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink. It was the perfect end to a magical day, the kind of experience that reminds me why I love the ocean so much. The Turkish Gullet Cruise along Malta’s northern coastline is a must-do for anyone seeking a blend of relaxation and adventure. Just remember your hat and sunscreen, as shade is limited, but the memories you’ll make are limitless.
