The Chacchoben Mayan Ruins are the leading and most frequented day-trip destination in Costa Maya, located roughly 50 minutes by car from the Costa Maya Port. This historical site, a stone’s throw away from the Chacchoben village, borrows its name from the said village. In Mayan language, ‘Chacchoben’ translates as ‘The Place Of The Red Corn’. This archaeological site is renowned for its huge temples and colossal platforms that date back to 700 AD.

After disembarking your ship proceed to find the main exit. There we have transportation with our logo on them and one of our drivers can take you to our office. Oh, if you like, you can go directly to our office. We are located one block from the port exit on the left side of the Mayan temple.

Best excursion experience EVER!! - Eliseo was an amazing and extremely knowledgeable guide. If you can request him on your trip, I highly recommend him. He also took us to the most wonderful restaurant and beach on the way back to the port. Best excursion we could have possibly taken.

Great excursion - Great excursion. Well organized. Tour guides are friendly and informative. The ruin is nice to visit. They gave you the options to return to the port or go to a beach on the way back. We chose to return to the port because we wanted to see the dolphins. They transferred us to a van and drove us back to the gate of the port. Easy and smooth without delay.

Awesome tour with three stops (four offered) - Carlos driver and Carlos Tour guide were great. We were also a little lost, and the staff at Toucan Tour offered to help and realized that this was indeed the tour we should have been on. We were offered drinks and a place to sit before we loaded onto the van. Carlos talked about the Mayans the entire ride up and we had a great time listening and taking pictures. We also were offered to stop at lighthouse and beach on the way back. We did just the lighthouse, and was nice!

Interesting and well organized tour - We were picked up as scheduled and the about one hour trip to the ruins was filled with interesting information about the Mayans and the area. The tour through the ruin park was great, never a rush and accommodating different interests and pace. Everyone at the agency was super friendly and professional. Would absolutely recommend them.

Great experience learning about Mayan culture - We had such a great experience! We were a group of 7 people, with a senior down to a toddler and we all had a lovely time! Jaun Carlos and Eric took great care of us, stopped and got pineapple and fruit and made sure we had everything we needed.

Toucan Tours with Juan Carlos and Gabriela - We had a great experience with Toucan tours company visiting Costa Mayan pyramids! Our tour was well organized, timely, educational and in overall very joyful. Our tour guys Juan Carlos and Gabriela provided many interesting facts about Mayan civilization and our driver Victor got us there and back to the port with extra stop at the local beach.
I would definitely recommend Toucan tours if you’d like to receive a professional service.

Overall a great tour - Gabriela and her team were great. They took care of us well from start to finish. She's very informative of about the ruins and answered questions the group had. The only thing is that the bus a/c wasn't cool enough. That's the only reason I removed one star. We were miserable from the humidity and having barely no air inside the bus didn't help.
