A Day with Gentle Giants - Today, I had the privilege of spending time with the most majestic creatures: elephants. Visiting Joy Elephant Sanctuary in Chiang Mai, an ethical haven for these gentle giants, was a truly humbling and unforgettable experience. This sanctuary prioritizes the well-being and freedom of the elephants, offering them a safe and caring environment. Observing them up close, learning about their habits, and seeing them thrive in a natural habitat was a powerful reminder of the importance of conservation and species protection. It’s heartwarming to know that places like Joy Elephant Sanctuary are dedicated to honoring and safeguarding these incredible animals. If you’re ever in Thailand, I highly recommend visiting this sanctuary, where the focus is on care and conservation rather than exploitation. Spending time with these elephants was not just a highlight of my trip but a beautiful reminder of the importance of compassion. 💕🐘💕

Elephant heaven in a natural environment - I’m so glad I chose this elephant sanctuary!! It was an hour drive but it was so worth it!! You descend upon a valley in the jungle with waterfall and running river through it. The elephants look like they are in the rawness of Jurassic park. This sanctuary is about observing the elephants in the natural habitat- the jungle. We got to feed them fruit and we followed the elephants on their jungle walk. It was so much fun to watch the elephants take down small trees to eat the foilage and to watch them walk through their natural habitat. We ended with lunch by the waterfall. The elephants are in elephant heaven here. They can just be without having to do tricks for humans. They don’t need our help bathing.

Best Elephant Day Trip & Fun Guides - Everything was perfect about this trip. The guides were kind, helpful and funny the shuttle shut up right on time at 6:30 in the morning and everything stayed on schedule for the whole day. The best part was hiking with the elephants I loved swimming in the waterfall, the delicious lunch and the class to make the aromatic sniffers. I think going on the trip was my favorite day of my entire trip so far I loved it.

An enjoyable and educational experience. - We are so glad we picked this one. We were looking for an experience with an ethical sanctuary and this fit the bill. It’s a relatively new sanctuary with four elephants and one more coming soon. Had an enjoyable time feeding the elephants and watching them in their natural environment. Swam and had a delicious meal at the waterfall. The staff are so fun and knowledgeable and we learned a lot about elephants. This is a true “sanctuary” for these rescued elephants. Happily recommended!

Compassionate elephant sanctuary - Kind and compassionate guide and driver. The elephants are well cared for. They have a natural nice environment to live out their years in peace. The food and activity the guide organized was also great. Highly recommend

Finally a real ethical experience with elephants!! - We did a lot of research to find out an ethical experience with elephants. In fact we were also ready to give up after we also asked information around, including the staff of our guesthouse and realised that most of them are ethical just in the name. Finally we found this one and we can confirm that it was very positive, we actually had no contacts with elephants except in an indirect way when we fed them. Also when speaking with the staff, we could feel the importance they give to the animals. I feel comfortable to say that with the Joy Elephant Sanctuary we had a real ethical experience!

Ethical and Exceptional - Absolutely amazing experience. You get to get up close to the elephants but without them being forced to do anything they don’t want. The whole time is centred around whatever they want to do. You get to feed them and walk with them through their natural habitat in the jungle. The tour guide was excellent and very informative about the elephants and how to care for them. Highly recommended!
