It was ok. Just that we just left Portugal and already I want to go back - We had trouble understanding our guide & she just didn’t have a lot of enthusiasm. Tiago in Portugal was awesome Restaurant was mediocre. They seemed in a rush to get us in and out

Huge Disappointment - Essentially paid 54 euros for bus travel. Bus load of mostly Spanish speaking tourists so guide spoke mostly in Spanish - she short changed the non Spanish tourists and even while speaking English, she spoke so fast it was unintelligible . Obvious that Julia Travel had trained our guide to repeat what she had memorized and nothing more. She made minimal attempt to engage the group, rarely smiled, looked bored with it all and just wanted to get through the tour as quickly as possible. I get that being a guide can be challenging but it is your job to at least attempt to make it interesting for your customers. As for the tour, save for the castle and the battlements which are magnificent, there is little of interest in Avila unless you are a devout Catholic. Most of the points of interest were not open and commentary was useless and spoken too quickly to understand. On to Segovia, the highlight of which was the lunch spot, El Bernardino. Pleasant walk through the old town including the main square and cathedral. You would think the tour might include at least allow a peek inside this monumental gothic church - the only one built in Spain in hundreds of years but nope… walked right on by and guide would not deviate even after asking . She knows her job and going to get it done. The castle is well preserved and easily evokes imagination of medieval life. There is so much there that could have been used to inform and educate but the commentary that could be understood was at once uninteresting and banal. The tour thankfully finished outside the castle in the sun where the day’s greatest feature were large white nesting birds. To Julia Travel : I would think that a tour company in business since 1933 would have higher standards and be much more customer focused. I don’t entirely fault the guide but it is time to over haul both the content and your approach to guide selection and training . Thanks for the 54 Euro bus ride.
