Two nice walks with ME - During our stay in Madeira, I went on two walks with ME, Rabacal to 25 Fontes and the Pico Ruivo walk.
The Guides, Maria and Emilleque (hope the spelling is correct), were very informative along the walk and were careful in making sure the group stayed together where necessary. As both walks are more or less there and back, we were allowed to return at our own pace, with the guide bringing up the rear, hopefully to avoid losing anyone, which I am glad to say they did manage to avoid.
Both walks were very enjoyable, although the weather was not as good as it has been in earlier years, but anyone who might struggle on a more arduous walk should be aware that the Pico walk starts with a 45 minute uphill slog, pleasant enough but harder work than the rest and the last 450 metres or so to the peak is quite steep in places too. However you are told that there is the option of being ferried past the initial slog and not everyone went up to the peak, but stopped bust below at the cafe stop.
Overall 2 pleasant days out and I am looking forward to doing more walks on our next visit to the Island.

Great company, recommend and would use again - We did three walks with Madeira, 25 fountains, Fanal full day and referta/castelejo. All were fantastic and worth doing! Our guides for each one, Jorge, Margarita and Linda were all fab and had so much knowledge. Great drivers too, Tony and Igor. Will use this company again for our next visit! The tour guides are also great at accommodating different languages.

Great day out - Another amazing madeira trip. Madeira explorers were quality from the moment we got in touch. Picked up from our hotel on time, and taken to the starting point in a small mini van. The hike was excellent, amazing views and our guide Elton was superb. Knowledgeable, funny and thoughtful (one of our group didn't like heights). The lavadas are a must see

Wonderful hikes and the best guides ever. - If you would go on a hike in Madeira, this is the best team to pick. I have been on three hikes this week, and seen plenty of beautiful places plus learned a lot about this special island thanks to the excellent guides.
Emilque and Jorge (sorry if I spell your names wrong) are skilled, fluent in several languages, easygoing and makes you want to know about Madeira
I plan on coming back, and I will chose these guides over any other.

Would highly recommend! Super friendly staff and great tour! - The guide and driver were very friendly and open to questions. The guide could speak good German and has positively enriched the hike. The tour was pleasant to run and in the end my girlfriend and I were even dropped off especially in front of our accommodation, although this was not there at the pick-up locations. Just great!

You should wear hiking... - You should wear hiking shoes or boots. The description called it a "walk" so I didn't pack my hiking boots. Wish I would have. It's a beautiful hike, though. Well worth the moderately difficult parts. Beautiful scenery and lovelyvwaterfall. My only other complaint was that walking sticks were supposed to be provided but they were not.

Very Good Levada Hike in Madeira - The Risco + 25 fountains trail starts from a parking near the main road, from which you will go done on a steep paved road for an elevation drop of 400 meters ...
This will be waiting for you on the way back ! - Be prepared ... :-)
The trail itself is at mid level difficulty with steep stair up and down and some very narrow path above the cliff. most likely you will have to walk in water part of the time , so bring suitable hiking shoes - NO flip-flops !!!
The Risco waterfall in much more impressing than the 25 fontain ( in my view), and the walk along the Levada is nice - gives you the idea how water is managed all over the island.
All in all it is about 6 hours walk , including a stop for cake & coffee/beer on the way back, at the well located mountain canteen.
Most important: be sure to select a non-rainy day for this hike !

Good walks - Good company. Did the 25fontes and the paradise walks with them. They operate a separate driver and guide-other companies don't. Guides and drivers very personable. Both walks are great. Only downside is that their website wouldn't work to book other walks and will not book thro Tui again

Underwhelming and poorly hosted - Disappointing experience. The guide didn't seem that attentive to the people on the tour and I felt we were being rushed round as soon as possible. The waterfalls were pleasant enough but the 25 fountains in particular at this time of year were underwhelming and overcrowded.
