Great afternoon out - Susannah picked us up at our hotel on time and we drove straight out to the winery. The route was a little windy and the last bit was very bumpy but Susannah coped with all the conditions very well. She was very informative and we learned a lot about the island as she drove. The winery itself was in beautiful countryside. The tour was very well organised. We tried six wines (very little food provided with which to try it and the actual tasting was a little rushed as there was a big party coming in after us). We we’re offered another full glass of any of the 6 wines after, too. After this we went onto the glass bridge and then onto a little fishing village where Churchill apparently painted. The stops here were very brief which suited us. We were home by 6:20 pm after starting out at 2.pm. Good value, interesting tour.

Highly recommended - It was a very rainy, windy day so we were very glad not be outside that day. We were taken to several places of interest along the way and then on to Quinto Barbusano. The lady who described and explained about the wines was excellent and very knowledgeable, answering all our questions. We were able to do a short walk around the vineyard when there was a break in the weather. This too was excellent, obviously all the staff are very passionate about their work. We sampled 5 varieties of wine, all extremely good, and the snacks complimented each wine very well. The opened bottles were left on the table so we were able to have another tasting afterwards. We bought 3 bottles but there is absolutely no pressure to do so. Highly recommended half day, well worth the cost.

Excellent trip - First time using MIT and we were impressed with their good comms. We were delighted the wine company they visited was Quinta Barbusano as they are our favourite wine in Madeira. The young lady doing the tour was really good/friendly with an amazing knowledge of the winery and wine making. We could have stayed there for several hours more (had 1hr 40min) as the setting was idyllic. Our guide Manuel was excellent, friendly and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend and will use again.

Fabulous taste of Madeira wines - Fabulous wine tour! Learned that I was tasting Madeira wines as opposed to Madeira fortified wines...there is a difference! Juan was our driver...crazy, fast, but it was a "two-fer" wine tasting and roller coaster ride!! He brought us to the winery where we were regaled with stories on how the winery started, the varietals they grow and the terroir. We tried 6 wines and had a small charcuterie tray, we could taste again if wanted...of course we did! Fabulous wines, inexpensive (I got 2 bottles for 25 euros). 2 additional stops at the overview platform (Cabo Girao) and the fishing village (Camara de Lobos) were awesome, tried my first Poncha in the village! Well worth the minimal cost of the tour, 5 hours in length. Definitely recommend...Madeira Island Tours is very communicative and answers all questions. 10 stars!

Oh, Susanna! - Susanna!! What a guide! And the countryside!! Did we mention wine? One of our best excursions ever in over 20 cruise vacations. Went with one other couple in a small van. Susanna described everything from island geography to real estate prices to local identity culture. The guide at the vineyard was an expert who explained in an easy to follow conversation the ins and outs of wine making, local Madeira rules, and weather/soil/sheep(!) effects on the grapes. Took a zillion pictures and bought some bottles at the winery. Take this tour! And ask for Susanna!

Great 1/2 Day Vineyard Trip - Great way to see a local Madeira vineyard. Our driver picked us up from our hotel. The vineyard was about 35 minutes from Funchal. The tour was great, and included a short walk through the vineyard and a tasting.

Worthwhile - We made this half-day trip on Friday because this is the only day of the week when it is offered in the afternoon. Good to know if you don’t want to be well boozed in the morning. 😵‍💫😆 The trip to the winery was a real adventure, but an entertaining experience thanks to our experienced and safe driver Susanna. Susanna is a sweetheart, very talkative, open and funny.😍 We were the only guests that day, which of course made the trip extra exclusive. 👍 Normally, before or after the wine tasting, we still go to Camara de Lobos, where we have been. That's why we drove to the Skywalk for a short stop and then straight to the winery. There was a short walk, for which you should already wear sturdy shoes and have a rain jacket with you in case it gets a bit wet and uncomfortable as with us. Information about wine growing, varieties, etc. is given. After that you can taste 6 wines; 3 whites, 1 rosè, 2 reds. Something is explained about each wine. There are crackers, some cheese, jam and sausage. The bottles remain on the table for drinking and there were even bottles added, so plenty of wine, who likes.😋 Susanna waited outside until we were ready for the return trip. The location on the winery we did not find particularly cozy, but overall it was, already through Susanna, an interesting and relaxed experience.

The Best of Madeira! - This was the best tour of our holiday in Madeira! Our driver was great, punctual and picked us up at our villa in Canico. He was very chatty and informative about Madeira in general and had great information about the area we visited for the tour. Vanda our guide for the wine tour was amazing! We learned such a lot about the processing of the wines and the different varieties. Then the tasting! Generous ...we tasted 6 wines and then were able to continue to have a drink after the tour. The scenery around the vineyard is to be seen to be believed. This tour is very good and we would do it again for the experience.
