- Porto da Cruz - The Vereda do Larano walk takes you from Machico to Porto da Cruz along an old footpath used historically for trade. Starting with an easy stroll along Levada dos Maroços, enjoy views over Machico city before ascending to the Boca do Risco viewpoint. Here, you’ll be greeted with vistas of the Atlantic Ocean, Ponta de São Lourenço, and Penha d’Aguia. The journey continues on a narrow coastal path, offering unique sights of Madeira’s endemic flora. The hike ends in Porto da Cruz, where you can explore the traditional sugar cane mill, learning about the production of “aguardente” brandy and honey cane, essential to Madeira’s culinary heritage.
