A day to never forget - The tour guide José is the best guide I ever had so far, showing you the most beautiful parts of madeira and explaining with a smile and some funny jokes here and there, making this day an experience to never forget. 10/10 would reccomend

Knowledgeable friendly tour guide - Our guide was really knowledgeable and engaging and carefully planned the day to get the most out of our time (checking we were okay to return late). It didn't feel like we were just being driven to a series of photo opportunities like some tours can. The scenery was stunning and more verdant than the south - a good comparison with the North Western tour we'd done before.

Absolute recommendation! - The tour was a lot of fun - especially the offroad passages. Our guide was very friendly and provided us with information about the island all the time. We would recommend the tour at any time. You can see much of the eastern part of the island in a short time. The only small minus was the food in the proposed restaurant. The meat skewers were still raw on one side (I usually like to eat meat medium rare).

Excellent trip with an excellent guide – highly recommended. - Our guide Jose was engaging from the moment he collected us from our hotel. He was extremely knowledgeable with a great sense of humour. He made sure that we were all introduced to each other and used everyone's first names. He also made sure that every one of us got what we wanted from the tour – not easy when people want different things! He joked about his driving, but his skill and ability were evident on some of the off-road sections – particularly when he had us all standing up. There were plenty of stops and photo opportunities and Jose explained a lot about the ecology and the history of the island. The highlight for us was the trip to the top of Pico do Arieiro, above the clouds. It was other-wordly. A very long day (some of the photo stops in lay-bys could have been cut to 5 mins, rather than 20!) but absolutely worth it.

Jose was tour guide extraordinaire! - We booked this tour as the hotel recommended them to us and previous Tripadvisor reviews seemed very good. Jose was our guide and he was excellent - so much fun and informative too. It was a long day but totally worth it. I would definitely recommend. It’s a good way to orientate yourself around the eastern side of the island and if you don’t have much time then at least you get a good idea of what that area has to offer. Jose made the day though 😁

Would recommend! - Dino was a wonderful kindharted guide with endless energy and enthusiasm. He showed us a couple of 'secret' spots and told us a lot about the local flora and fauna. The lunch was also great :) Because of the fires we couldn't go into the mountains, but because of this trip we still got to see a lot of nature :) You share the jeep with 6 people in total. There was a good balance of driving and stopping to see the sites. Big recommendations and love for Dino ☆ Myriam& Bastiaan

Laugh a minute 😆 - Jose was a brilliant driver, full of knowledge and a wicked sense of humour. Debbie and Shelly from Midlands were good sports as well. We would recommend this trip for everyone.

Nice tour but overshadowed by inappropriate and sexist comments made towards my pregnant friend - The tour itself was good, it was of the eastern part of the island and we visited some beautiful places (the tour of the west is much better though). However, it was soured by the tour guide repeatedly making fun of my friend who is five months’ pregnant (we were told that the tour was pregnancy safe and lots of pregnant passengers do the tour). The tour guide was German, as were all of the other guests on our tour, and we were the only English. The first comment from the German tour guide was about my friend potentially losing her baby when we were off roading and making a wholly inappropriate comment about him then ‘putting the baby back in her’ followed up by saying that he didn’t know if she ‘would want an old man’ to do this. This could be a very triggering comment to any potential mother and is not funny. There were also various other jokes directed in her way throughout the day, some in English but others in German (to our exclusion), followed by the other German passengers all laughing at my friend. I also heard them all discussing my friend at one point and calling the baby a ‘shrine’. My friend was understandably left feeling very uncomfortable and distressed about this, as you would expect. If you are consider booking a tour, I’d suggest using another operator. The tour we did of the west was with a different operator who was far more considerate to my friend.
