Epic horseback adventure in Cotopaxi. - What an epic day in Cotopaxi!! Pedro was our guide for a wonderful adventure in the Cotopaxi National Park. After picking us up from our hotel in Quito, he drove us to Cotopaxi. We visited a lagoon and he told us about local plants and animals in the area. Then onto the horses. We were given ponchos and chaps to keep warm along with helmets for safety. As this was a private tour, we had a beautiful 3 hour ride into the beautiful valley at the base of Cotopaxi. Epic scenery everywhere. We even saw Condors! Afterwards, we headed up toward the base camp. Being "flat landers" and not yet accustomed to the altitude, we opted not to finish the hike. Pedro was very supportive and we did make it to just over 15000 feet. Afterwards, we had a wonderful lunch at a local restaurant. I even got to feed some llamas that were there as pets. Pedro took pictures for us and made our day in the Andes one to cherish.
