Highlights
  • Mudam Luxembourg Modern Art Museum - Mudam Luxembourg - Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean is the foremost museum dedicated to contemporary art in Luxembourg, and strives to be attentive to every discipline and open to the whole world. Its collection and programme reflect current artistic trends and appreciate the emergence of new artistic practices on a national and international scale.

The building, by famous Sino-American architect Ieoh Ming Pei, is a marvellous dialogue between the natural and historical environment. Standing against the vestiges of Fort Thüngen, it follows the course of the former surrounding walls, and is rooted in the Park Dräi Eechelen (planned by landscapist, Michel Desvigne) which offers magnificent views onto the old town just a short walk from the European district of Kirchberg.

A modern museum in Luxembourg - It is a very modern museum with super friendly and attentive staff, it is somewhat hidden by the trees but as you approach it is very clear that it is the museum, the exhibitions are super interesting and different to what we are used to, admission is free, they have lockers to leave your things without any cost, everything is super clean and tidy

Very modern, partly abstract art - As the name suggests, the Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean, Mudam for short, showcases modern art. This can sometimes be very abstract, as we could see with the exhibition "A Model". Some works fascinated us greatly, while others did not open up to us. The architecture of the museum is fascinating. The Sunday we visited it, admission was free.

Zaï is a great mediator - Ask for Zaï during your visits, she is an exceptional mediator, talented, attentive, and who supports you. While explaining the works to you. Thank you for his professionalism.

Nice building, poor collection. - Excellent building that houses an uninteresting permanent collection. It is saved by temporary exhibitions and being able to admire the architectural work.

The expectation was not fulfilled - The museum offers various exhibitions. Some are very abstract and difficult to access for a layperson. There is a lot of film material on offer. Sometimes a short explanation is simply missing.

Nice architecture - the building is beautifully designed and worth seeing. The art is randomly displayed without explanation and is disappointing. Nice cafe and area. Fire the curator

Not worth it - I love modern art From the moment we arrived to the surly unhelpful receptionist there was literally 4 exhibits to see We asked for concession tickets as per the leaflet but was told in no uncertain terms that’s not possible! and had to pay full price Very disappointed Even at concession rates it was not value for money but full price doubly not value The building itself was very good Very airy and light and clean Exhibit staff didn’t have a clue to the exhibits they were guarding The door security staff were very helpful though Wouldn’t recommend visiting Much better museums to visit for half the price
