Great city… Great Tour Guide! - Our guide Leng (not sure of spelling) took us on a magical tour of the very special town of Luang Prabang in the evening. We hung out with some locals & watched them play a game very similar to bocci… then we were guided through the large night market where we made some well priced purchases. We later had dinner at a beautiful barbecue restaurant on the Mekong River. Leng spoke excellent English & we learned much about the history of Laos as well as the present. When we return here someday, we would love to have Leng as our guide again. He is the BEST!

I had to give this tour the lowest... -
I had to give this tour the lowest rating because it simply didnt match the description provided in Viator. We have used Viator extensively and still have a lot of faith in their offerings. In this case however, something went awry. Viator made it up to us, which is another reason to like Viator. But I would advise strongly against taking this tour.
I want to start by saying that the guide and driver were extremely nice and we enjoyed playing the game of Petanque with them. I liked them both so I hate to give the bad review, but the tour as given was not worth the money paid.
First they showed up at 4:00 instead of 6:00 PM so my wife had to get out of the shower in a hurry. The tour started out as promised with the local game in park which was fun but no drinks and snacks as promised. No sunset on the river as promised because they got us there late. no big deal. We did walk through the night market although we never went through the food market as it indicated in the description. There was very little explanation about anything in the market. We simply walked slowly behind the guide. He then walked us to the riverfront and gave us the choice of three restaurants to eat at. We chose a restaurant and the two of us went in and had dinner. When we were done, we wandered out of the restaurant without knowing if our guide had left or what was going on. We found our guide outside waiting to take us back the hotel. No local nightclub as promised, no HIVE bar for drinks as promised, no Sindat BBQ as promised. At that point, we bailed off the tour and decided to walk back to the night market on our own.
In summary we paid 100 US for two of us to play a game in a park which we enjoyed, walk slowly through the night market, and eat dinner in a restaurant which we know came to around 25. It was obviously not a good value and other than the game, didn't really offer anything we couldn't have done better on our own. Luang Prabang is very easy and fun to navigate. Avoid this tour.
